For money spent on our CBB program.

http://www.bbstate.com/schools/LIB (I was only able to look at this page once before it started asking me to pay. So somebody take a screen shot)

UNCA is getting a pretty good ROI because they don't spend jack and are always pretty decent in conference. Although they do seem to play 3 or 4 big money games every season. Makes you wonder where that big money goes.
Also it's funny that ODU always gets comments about all of their rich alumni and how they have so much money but they had a slightly smaller budget than us last year and they didn't even have a football team at the time.

also, non basketball related, we have the 106th highest total athletic budget in the country

We've got good coaches and a lot of money. We should be better.

I could only look at like three teams and then they asked for money. So make sure you don't waste your picks!

We typically only make around 200K in money games. It probably just goes to cover the basketball related expenses.

Thanks for making the title sound so promising. I had a feeling we weren't ranked number 100 nationally, so I was wondering what you were up to.

vanderbilt is 10th? for a school that isn't even really all that good at basketball and hasn't bene historically good, that is rather surprising. to be spending more than unc, they should be doing a heck of a lot better than they are...

Interesting to see that we are ranked so high in relation to everyone else in the conference. I knew that at one time we were slightly behind VCU and ODU and way ahead of Winthrop and that was used against Randy Dunton and contributed to his firing. Does the number include scholarships given? Could explain some of the difference being that private schools have a much higher tuition than state run schools. You would think that with that kind of money thrown at the program they would dominate the BSC similiar to our women's hoops team.

I think that most of that is due to the extremely high tuition that Vandy charges if they include scholarships in that number. Probably the reason why Duke and Marquette are so high on the list.

I agree with that statement 100% We are not as good as we should be accross the board and also considering that the BSC is so weak. Just certain sports like women's hoops, Track, Mens Cross Country, V ball dominate consistently.

ha, it's a french to english translation (even though it's originally in english) and so it translates Central Florida to Exchange Florida.

I am fine with the link as long as I don't do too much double clicking to see the detail behind the rankings. Then after a while it starts asking me for a password and to pay up.

I am still in surprised to see LU up as far as it is considering how bad the Big South is and our lack of dominance. In fact there are only 4 colleges in "Mid Major" conference ahead of us that being Creighton, Wichita State (Gregg Marshall's program), Bradley, and Gonzaga. I am assuming that the Atlantic 10 is major and not Mid major. These 4 programs have been dominate in their conferences and they are much better than the Big South. This all tells me that we are not getting a very good return on our investment and we should be doing much better. I am not sure what other factors are going against us except the fact that we have strict rules.

BeTray was certainly not a factor going against us. He was setting us up pretty nicely. Now all of the turnover as a result of him may have hurt us, but I guess that all depends on how Layer's first recruiting class pans out. They guy was an asset. He's just not all that bright when it comes to career decisions.

I don't think that McKay was a liability. He just didn't finish what he started. I am a little concerned about our ability to keep good talent here with losing guys like Curry, Dave Dees, B Floyd, Brewington, Miller (the transfer from Houston) and others. I don't want to get into Hanky's academic casualties. Was it Dunton, strict rules, or was the Big South not good enough for them.

Curry was the only to leave because of competition.

Dees left because of Dunton and/or Blair, depending on who you ask.

Brewington left because he couldn't stop making babies and had to feed them somehow.

Floyd left because he had problems on his own.

My favorite part of Liberty basketball history discussions is when we talk about these mythical basketball gods that just never got the chance. If only they had studied!
