Who ya got?

I'll be a homer and call Chicago, but I don't have to live there during construction. I just happen to have tons of family 30 minutes from downtown, so I'd have the free housing hook up. I'd need it, of course, due to the crazy ticket prices.

Honestly, I bet they go with Rio just because S. America hasn't ever hosted, although Mexico City did in '68 and I consider anything south of the Rio Grande to be South America.

Madrid and Tokyo seem to be afterthoughts.

Go get 'em, Mr. President!

Id like it to be in Chicago for the same reason..I have all sorts of family in that area and my dad is from Chicago...but I could tell my kids one day that their grandfather lived in a city that hosted the Olympics

I like Rio, only because South America's long overdue. However, it's going to be hard to look past the crime and lack of security factor.

It will probably be Chicago because of Obama's appearence.

Are you talking about Rio or Chicago?

Chicago is going to get it though, easily. You have corrupt politicians from a corrupt town lobbying to a corrupt organization. There is no way that Chicago doesn't get it.

The Winter Games are in Vancouver next year. If you are dying to get an Olympics fix you can do it there.

Letting those IOC bloodsuckers bleed a town dry with little economic benefit for the host city is ridiculous. Don't be shocked if Madrid doesn't land it.

Chicago will be the winner. The IOC is corrupt to the core. Obama needs a political victory. He has not had one for 9 months. As bad as things have been for his administration, I do not think he would take the risk if he did not believe it was a sure thing. Leaders and dignitaries representing their countries in person during the decision process is a relatively new phenomenon.

In a twisted way, I'd like to see Tokyo get it. They promised to use all renewable energy. It would be a total bust.

I have zero research to back this up, but a thought occurred to me today while I was driving. (I've spent waaaay too much time driving through VA & NC this week!)

Does anyone know who owns what lands would be purchased for development in Chicago if it were to land the 2016 games? For things like the Olympic village and venues, a lot of otherwise unusable or low-value land would suddenly become very desirable to developers, and command a much higher price. Wouldn't it be interesting to know if some of Obama's supporters own such lands???

Again, zero research. But that's just how my mind thinks...

100% chance this is true. Of course, that's only coincidence though...

Of course Obama's cronies are going to get $$$ from all this. That's a given. I only wish I was a good enough writer or had researched enough to express exactly what is going -- wait, Michelle Malkin did it for me?

With choice quotes like this one? Thanks, Michelle!
Coincidentally enough, Grove Parc — now targeted for demolition as a result of years of neglect by Obama’s developer friends—sits in the shadows of the proposed site of the city’s 2016 Olympics Stadium.

No city, I'd wager, will get a majority of the Olympic vote on the first go-around. It then becomes a question of, where will the votes go once a city is eliminated?

I'm pulling for Rio. Similar time zone so it'll be easy to watch, but I don't like the olympics in the U.S. It's boring.

I love the headline on Drudge: "The Ego Has Landed".

If it is Rio... Our athletes can look forward to the beautiful site, the history, and getting kidnapped.

How does a president go out on a limb like this and beg the committee without having secured the bid first? Now he looks like a fool and there's no way to spin it. In fact, I'd say we all look like fools because of it.

We did not only lose the bid, we were the first eliminated. That includes a weak offering by the Tokyo delegation. Here is an interesting read about BO's failure. Of course, it seems that we need to go to the UK to get legitimate reporting these days.

Maybe we would have stood a chance if Michelle Obama didn't insult the IOC by saying she was 'sacrificing' to be there. As if they should feel privileged to be graced by her presence!

Good point. I'll actually be able to watch Team USA without having to stay up to 4 am or just get up real early the next day.
