Two big matches this weekend. Should be exciting play. Let's get a huge crowd out there for both matches. The Coastal match on Saturday should be the toughest home match of the year.

I really want to read first-hand accounts about this match...based on the livestats, WU lost the first two sets, but rallied back to force a 5th set...anyway, looks like LU took a 13-12 lead (after WU was up 12-10), and then the two teams traded points until LU finally won 27-25...so WU fought off 12 match points to keep the match going...the atmosphere must've been crazy at the Vines during that 5th set.

Congrats on the win, but I must say I'm encouraged by WU's ability to go on the road and play that tight of a match (after last season's terribly lopsided matchups between the two teams)..

Ok, this last game was the most insane thing I've seen. Once we got tied ( I think it was at 12-12), it was just point for point until we wont 27-25. There were some amazing plays! Some of the best volleyball I've seen. It was crazy on both sides of the court. Unfortunately it showed our lacking skills tonight to finish a match timely. However, it was a good fight and WU came out with some good serving and tough hits here and there. Their setter also did a good job placing the ball. Kudos to Kirstyn and Hannah tonight. I think Hannah hit double digits in this game- she's going to be a good one in the future!!

I was second guessing the decision to attend the volleyball game rather than the hockey game, but the finish was great. Congrats to putting away WU.

This was the most exciting 5th set to a volleyball match I have ever called. An absolutely unbelievable sequence with amazing play after amazing play. It ended a little bit anticlimatic with the double hit call on Hall of WU. No telling how long that game would have went otherwise. My voice is a little hoarse from calling the game. And to think ... I've got two more big games on Saturday! I hope the ladies make it a little "less exciting" against Coastal and finish it out quickly!

We really shot ourselves in the foot in the 3rd and 4th sets, and they started hitting really well...

Lots of girls put up good numbers. Both setters were up near 40 in assists, both teams had multiple double digit kill numbers, both liberos dug the ball like CRAZY, and it was just good all around. Very exciting to watch. Shame it had to end on a ball-handling error, but i guess it happens.

So proud of the girls, coming back after dropping two straight games. They were not to be denied and credit goes to all the girls on the court and off and especially to Coach Pinder. Go get Coastal

Yes, haha. It really helps you understand volleyball more when you get to look at cold hard stats. I thought it was just the refs being unkind that was holding us back once we started losing, but then I saw how we increased our errors, and I'm like, hey, its not always the refs fault.

Anyways, props to WU. They played really well, and at times they played out of their minds. As a team they hit in the .300's in the 3rd or 4th set (can't remember), and they really cut out the errors as the game went on. They have a good team, their outside hitters are solid and their setter is as close to Kallie as I have seen from any team in the Vines.

Should've won this one in 3, but we'll take the win (and the conference lead) over Coastal. GO FLAMES!!!

Chelaine with 22 kills, and Nicki Scipko with 8 kills in the final set. Some of the numbers they put up were ridiculous. I think Chelaine hit .750 in the 2nd and Nicki .800 in the fourth or something like that. Also great jobs by Kallie (51 assists to pass Kristin Colson, another very good setter in LU vball history) and Kelly Haseman, as well as Kirstyn Sanders, Hannah Anderson, and the other players. Everyone had their moments where they were playing very well.

I'm not sure people realize how fortunate we are to walk away from the weekend with two wins in our current state. We have 3 freshman on the floor at times....and while they are good none came in with the expectations to play right away...in fact the idea was to redshirt one or two of them....certainly not play them.

All in all it was a great weekend....I would have been happy with a split this weekend

Oh trust me, I know how fortunate we are...there were times earlier this season I thought I was looking at next year's starting lineup where we didn't have a senior on the floor.

Here's some encouragement.

Volleyball costs $0 to attend, unlike hockey.
When you come to see volleyball, you get to see some of the top college athletes in that sport, unlike hockey.
When volleyball says "Were going to play Duke" there is no "CLUB TEAM" at the end of that sentence, unlike hockey.
Volleyball players dont smell, unlike hockey.
Volleyball matches allow you to win a cruise as well as coupons to a bunch of food places, unlike hockey.

Are you really comparing volleyball to hockey? It's like comparing apples and Porsches.

Never said I had a problem with the sport. But if I have the option to watch a good Division I volleyball team over subpar hockey you know which one I'm going to take.

**Not to meant as disrespect, but Hockey couldnt skate on the ice with real Division I athletes. Im not expecting them to get to that level but I'm certainly not going to pay money to see them when Liberty's NCAA Division I athletes are playing

one could make the argument that you "pay" (subsidize) the schollie sports via your tuition, while the club sports must generate their own revenue, hence the (Bargain) ticket prices.

But I won't, in interest of staying on topic here. And you're still a pherry.

Trying to compare or give reasons why you should or shouldn't attend one sport over the other is ridiculous, its all based on personal preferences.

I'd rather pay to watch our ice hockey team compete than see the golf team compete for free. I'll watch volleyball over ice hockey though, for reasons that have nothing to do with which one's a club sport and which one is "real"
