It took us about 6 hours from Lynchburg to Fairmont, but we made a number of stops:
1. Dinner at Bojangles in Roanoke
2. Several bathroom stops (I'm an old guy)
3. Grandma's grave at Fairview Cemetery near Hominy Falls
3. Pie in Nettie, WV
4. Pepperoni roll at a truck stop near Clarksburg
5. Super 8 hotel in Fairmont at 10:30

Tomorrow is GAME DAY!

All you are missing is a stop at a Stuckey's for a pecan log!

If you left from Lynchburg, why in the world did you have dinner in Roanoke.

Incidentally, Roanoke Catholic played football tonight in Fairmont.

With all due respect, JK37, I try to avoid 501 North, unless I'm going to a VMI game, so when I drive to WV, I do:
460 West
220 North (Bojangles & the town of Iron Gate)
64 West--from there, I followed all the rest of your directions, I promise

No skin off my back. But do you avoid 501N for the twists/turns, or because of the paper mill?

I've heard people use both reasons.

Hate the twists & turns, but I don't mind the papermill. Plus, I love driving through Iron Gate.

I only like driving the twists & turns, not riding them if someone else is driving. I can totally understand iron gate.

JK, coming back from the game on I-64 East today, I was talking to my buddy riding shotgun and had the GPS turned off, and we missed the 220 South road at Clifton Forge, so we ended up coming back through 501 South afterall, and it really wasn't all that bad, afterall.

Good for you! Haha. Sounds from the postmortem that you had a great first experience at Mountaineer Field, too. That's really great.

Yea, and I even got to see my cousin who works the WVU concession stands for her Methodist church and see a couple of high school friends from the 1970s who were decked out in their Mountaineer gear (pics on Facebook). Being a WV native, I even appreciated John Denver singing "Country Roads" on their Jumbotron after the game.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
