I'm wondering how on earth they plan on putting 3000 more seats in the vines center. Can't wait to see some pictures.

I hate to be the one here not enjoying the obvious BIG stuff, but that pergola around the outside is tight.

I already said that in the thread in the Lynchburg Life. Yes, that will look awesome.

LU is also planning a comprehensive fundraising campaign that will allow donors to name facilities at the stadium – Chancellor’s suite, locker rooms, the playing field, the Tower, club and banquet rooms – in exchange for contributions.
I like the sound of LUconn field at Williams Stadium.

Phase One is only part of a multiphase plan to boost the stadium’s seating capacity from 12,000 seats to 30,000 seats over the next five years.
The project will give the stadium a Jeffersonian look similar to other buildings on campus.
Do we really want a stadium with 30,000 seats in 5 years? We still haven’t gotten 16,000 to a single game yet.

I think the games have been very well attended and more people would come if there were more seats. The student body keeps on growing and that means more students and if history is right - more students, means more paying fans.

I guess they're going on the "If we build it they will come" premise.

I don't see any reason to think we can't average 20,000 fans in 5 years, but that's only 2/3 full.

Ok, enough with the negativity.

Most stadiums with seating of 30,000+ have to park a mile+ away.

fair point, but again where do we have that kind of space for parking within a mile or more?

If you drive the perimeter road, there is a bunch of places they could easily put in parking. The little slope between where Barnes was originally going to go and north campus, that would be the perfect spot to put in a parking garage that has an exit going from the top to ericson dr. and on the bottom to the perimeter road.

The obvious solution for parking would be the mall. By then the only reason anyone would need to park there is to go to a movie or an LU football game, and it's a very short bus/shuttle ride.

You mean in a stadium that only seats 12,000?
