It counts more if you can actually spell o-p-i-n-i-o-n.

it's a joke that UNC is not on this list. They are every bit as pretentious, snotty, collar-poppy, etc. as Duke students. They're just not as nerdy.

Uh, no. I grew up a few miles from UNC and was raised a Duke fan.

Duke is leaps and bounds more pretentious and snotty than UNC. I mean, it's not anywhere close. There are those kinds of kids on both campuses but Duke is a class unto itself. I mean, the ratio at UNC is like 300:1. At Duke it's just 1. There is no other side to the ratio. Just the kids from New Jersey alone are enough to push them to the top of the list.

Yeah, I can't pull any punches on that. That place is Douchezewskiville.

Re: Duke and UNC

Someone asked me the other day my opinion as someone that wasn't native to NC. I live in the state now.

My opinion is that both schools are as pretentious as the other one. Except Duke actually has some reasons to be that way. UNC is just a bunch of kids from around the state to fill quotas and let's just say there is a big red spot on the back of their necks hidden by the popped collar.

This has been debunked by many people that have graduated from dook, yet they choose to be fans of UNC. John Feinstein (dook grad) has stated, "Trust me when I tell you graduating from Duke isn't all that hard."

Could be. I generally think so called elite private schools are a waste of money anyway.

However, it's one thing to have gone to a so called elite private school and think you are the wine and cheese crowd, and another to have been born in a trailer park in gastonia and attended public UNC and think you are the wine and cheese crowd.

It's always fun to get a rise out of a UNC grad when they tell you where they went and you respond with "oh that's a nice little public school."

Hey....Gastonia trailer parks are the "filet mignon" of trailer parks.

My bad- I always have a problem spelling that. Funny how that happened, though.

Duke, as opposed to Carolina, is higher on legacies (as in, my father went there, his father went there, etc). That's a few major points on the d----- scale. Realist made a good point with the state quotas remark. UNC has raised the admission standards for out-of-state students (and lowered it for in-state students), whereas Duke has set a high admission bar. You don't see people who say "I got rejected by UNC, but got into Duke", but you do see the other way around.

I'm surprised Florida State or UCLA didn't get much love. The only way they could be more d----- would be if they put Dane Cook on their lacrosse team.

That would first require them to get a lacrosse team.

They have lacrosse teams in the same way we have a hockey team.

Yes....yes you do.
Considering that the average SAT score per section for incoming freshman at DUke is approximately 70 points higher than at Chapel Hill (and this is a UNC fan speaking here)...

Maybe I should rephrase that statement. You don't see people (who aren't on the basketball team) say "I got rejected by UNC, but I got into Duke."

I know what you're trying to say, but it is true....there are people rejected from UNC that get accepted to dook. You know those crazy admissions people tend to look at more than just SAT. C'mon..you know watched "Legally Blonde".

You're right. Guess I'm gonna have to take back my defense of UNC. They belong.
