I agree. I think we need to stop borrowing traditions and make our own instead. If we are going to claim to be the world's most exciting University and then borrow all these pre-game football traditions from other schools, then we are just going to be a joke to everyone.

How did you get into the Lunatics with that attitude? This is exactly the mindset that has 4K Baptist-siders sitting on their hands on Saturday afternoon. If it works, who freakin cares where some idea came from or what it's called? News flash, people, there aren't many original ideas left in the world when it comes to crowd involvement and sooner or later, everybody gets accused of imitating everybody else. You don't like borrowing traditions from places that have a proven success rate? Fine, come up with something better. You think it's a joke to imitate ideas that have clearly worked somewhere else? Fine, laugh to your heart's content. Better yet, stay home, cackle as loud as you want and make room in the stadium for someone else.

I think the whole idea of "starting" a tradition is somewhat of a joke. Traditions are normally established, not by setting out to do so. However, they are important to have and the fact that our school is so young and infinitely changing and evolving means it's almost impossible for one to happen without some jumpstarting. So it's needed.

I'm fairly certain the name could have been thought of by someone with no knowledge of anything football, other than there are 11 players on the field at a time. It is by no means original or clever, but who cares, everyone will know what it means.

It is great that LU is getting traditions off the ground for football and even other sports. I can't agree more.
