HMM. sounds like what I've said all along.

Not to pee in anyones cereal but take a look at Beecher's Stats. He saw action in only two games last year. The blowout of NC State where he threw ZERO TDs and FOUR picks, and was benched at the half of a 3-0 game only to watch Chris Smelley come in in the second half and go 5-5 with two TDs and Zero Picks and lead Four Scoring Drives. The Second appearance was during the UAB game where he completed two passes for 20 yards. If you evaluate him strictly on his stats and not what uniform he wore on the sidelines last year he should be thankful we have a spot on the team for him.

I hope I am wrong about this. I hope he comes in and lights it up and leads us to the playoffs, just not ready to anoint him first, second or third string QB because he held the clipboard and threw picks at SCU last year.

Actually, anybody with a brain refuses to address them as USC. I tend to use USuCk...or Li'l Carolina.

Stats sometimes don't give the whole picture.
Beecher took five sacks and Spurrier said some of those resulted from Gamecock linemen “"opening the gates"” without hitting defenders
And for 2009
Spurrier now has five new assistants and a new strength and conditioning coach.
And Smelley transferred out, too. Seems maybe a lot of things were wrong with U of So Car football program. I'm looking forward to seeing what Beecher can do in a Flames uniform under a great coaching staff.

I'm not predicting what Beecher's role this year will be either, but to suggest that because he had a bad opening game last year and got in Spurrier's doghouse means his talent is not legit is stupid. There is a reason he was recruited to an SEC school and named an opening day starter.

IMHO a bad game would be through 4qtrs of football go maybe 22-31 with 1td and 1pick. Four picks in one half against a mediocre (6-6) football team is not bad it is miserable which is why he is probably very proficient at keeping stats, carrying a clipboard and knows exactly what size his sideline hat is. I wish him the best at LU but my hope and the coaches comments indicate that he will have to EARN the starting position.

If 22-31 1 TD 1 INT is a BAD game for you, I have to wonder what kind of standard you have for a good game my friend. I certainly never figured Beecher would just show up and the job would be handed to him but Id like to see how good he is here and with practice getting rolling today a lot of questions are going to be answered

I remember watching USC play NC. State and thinking to myself how bad Carolina's offensive line played that game. They had no push off the line and Beecher was getting hit every time he threw the ball. I think he will do a great job for the Flames now that he has a Clemson grad coaching him..... :D
