I am looking for a lake that I can take my kids fishing. Nothing big....just a couple of poles and worms. Is there any place local that you can do that? Places you recommend where they may actually catch fish?

LU now owns Ivy Lake. I don't know if we have access to Camp Hydaway's lake or not. Lastly, Liberty Lake in Bedford is a great place to take kids to fish. Also in Bedford County are Otter Lake on the Parkway and the Peaks of Otter lake. If your kids are old enough to wade, Galts Mill on the James River is some good small mouth bass fishing.

My backyard, Lake Vista in Forest. All you need is worms, the best time to catch them is after 6, anytime when the suns going down. If you go then and have worms I guarantee you will catch some fish. PM me if you need to know more.

Went to Ivy Lake yesterday. Caught 6 large mouth. Lots of room to fish from the bank with the kids. If you are going, you have to stop by the LaHaye Student Union & sign a permission slip. Without it, you can get a ticket from the game warden.

So...if you do that, do you still need a fishing license? Or does that mean you could get a ticket for tresspassing?

You need a fishing license to fish there. Also, you can get a ticket for trespassing. Double-whammy.

Blwall, did you catch 6 from the shore (no boat)? Were the ticks bad? If you don't mind, will you tell us what time you were fishing and what you used for bait?

HG - I don't know if you'll be allowed out there or not. You can call & ask.

Cider - we went out on kayaks. Got there a little before 6pm...left at 9pm.

Caught 3 around cover using a 1/8 bullet weight with 7.5" Red Shad Culprit worm. Caught 2 in middle of the lake using Zoom White Fluke, no weight. Caught 1 around cover using the top water Mini-Torpedo.

I had 3 HUGE hits that I lost. Two wrapped around stumps & one just broke my line when he hit.

I am definitely going back.
