Does anyone else have this game? I was doing a franchise with the Braves at got about two weeks past the all-star game and it froze and I could never play another game. Restarted with a new team and now I can't get past the second game without everything freezing. I tried to research the problem and can't find anything but patches to download for Xbox 360, which is not helping me any with PS3. Any recommendations?

My PS3 has started to freeze. It only stays on about 10 minutes. It's driving me nuts.

See, this is what I don't understand.

You have a PS3. Go get "The Show". Those of us with XBOX's are stuck with the vastly inferior, and as you've no doubt noticed, buggier, 2K Series.

I'm not a big baseball fan anymore, but The Show is an amazing game to play.

The Show is one of the best games I've ever played. I know several people, myself included, that got rid of their XBOX 360 and bought a PS3 for The Show alone. I have no regrets at all, especially since I no longer have to worry about the red ring of death anymore. I've had zero issues with my PS3 since I bought it last spring when The Show 08 came out, knock on wood.

Also, isn't that what really happens with the Braves?

I've mulled making the switch to the PS3 for baseball, but then again, I'm in my late 20s and married. I've already crossed the point where I should be saying to myself, "maybe it's time I give up video games", let alone splurge for a new system.

(But then, there are so many awesome games out there! And I just go mainly for the sports titles!)

I'm nearly the big 40 and still play Madden from time to time when I can. But that's about all I have left.

my brothers PS3 died on him after less than two years, and apparently this problem he had is fairly commonplace on the PS3 and is basically inevitable after only 2-4 years of use (depending on how heavily you use it). he had to pay $150 to get it fixed. they just gave him a refurbished but didn't transfer over the hard drive, so he didn't have his game saves or other stuff. he ended up selling it at game stop and got something over $200 for the system and ended up getting a Wii and a bunch of stuff for it with all the games he sold.

Well I'm 25 and I barely play anymore. When I do play anything, it's either on the computer, the DS, or my iPod Touch. Most of the time I don't really have much time for video games though...

Don't do it. You are never too old or married.

I'll probably pick up Madden and the new Call of Duty, and on the side I'd like to check out Forza 3 and depending on my mood, the new NHL game by EA Sports.

After that... I don't know.

The interesting thing about my life, and probably many on this board can attest to this, is that as I grew up, video games evolved. I was a baby when the games were rather primative... and as young kid, I played Nintendo... Super Nintendo came out as I was entering Middle School, the N64 for high school, the PS2 in college...

It's a shame, really, that my own kids won't be able to enjoy these sorts of things. You don't have really simple, yet re-playable games anymore (look at the Wii Punch Out, it certainly won't have an effect on the kids that the original has had).

Of course, if I keep playing video games as much as I am, I probably won't get kids.

Ha, that's exactly what happens to them. Stupid Braves. Anyway, going out to buy the show will not help me with my problems, thanks for the feedback though.

IGN just gave Madden 10 an 89, which is good enough for me to consider buying it... yet bad enough for me to know that I can live without it.

I just saw Madden has like 150 HOF players you can add to your own franchise if you decide to go that way....ESPN even has a story on Barry Sanders being one of those guys...he has an overall 99 score...with some 100's in individual categories...that alone peaked my interest. No one has been able to play and Barry Sanders in a video game in what 10+ years??

More like two. 2K Sports released 'All Pro Football' that featured a bunch of HOF'ers (including OJ and Barry). It wasn't well received, even though some 2K fanboys maintain that the football experience in the 2K games is superior to Madden.

You are in luck...
Best Buy...clearly states that they will "price match NEW video games at USED prices from GameStop or Game Crazy."

Now you can get rid of the crappy game & experience the awesome power of The Show.

It's actually a pretty decent idea -- Gamestop in recent months, I've noticed, has been giving customers less and less on trade-ins and charging more and more for used copies. I noticed one game that's been out for months and the used copy is just five bucks off the new version. The games that get significant discounts are the ones that a) stink or b) have newer editions (think 'Madden 07').

For Best Buy, this gives them a chance to clean out their inventory at a minimal loss, or heck, maybe even a profit.

this is awesome.

But MLB 2k9 sucks so bad. The Bigs sucks, and those are the only MLB games on 360, im so ticked that EA ended the MVP series, they need to bring that back, or at the very least, EA needs to do another baseball game.

They would if they could. But they can't, because 2K Sports (the guys behind the 2k series and The Bigs) signed an exclusivity agreement with Major League Baseball to be the only third-party developer with an MLB license (Sony, which releases 'The Show' for its Sony Playstation, is a first-party developer and was not excluded).

2K did that in response to EA SPorts doing the same with Madden (although the NFL approached EA SPorts about Madden).

The deal runs either through 2011 or 2012... or until 2K goes bankrupt (which could be pretty soon).

EA, after they lost the license, decided to produce two NCAA baseball games for the Playstation 2. But they weren't huge sellers, so they opted not to make the considerable expense needed to make the jump to the next-gen consoles.

yeah i knew about the exclusivity thing with ea and madded and 2k and baseball, it still just pisses me off. Ea has every right to do that, they make good games. of 2k sucks, i hope they do go out of business soon.
