To the family members and friends of income freshman, “Welcome to the Liberty Volleyball Family!”

Over the years this website has been an excellent place for many parents to promote the team and increase interest in the program. It has also served as a way for parents to communicate with each other.

Those parents who are lucky enough to go to nearly every match will often post their positive observations and give compliments to players who were “difference makers” in each set... win or lose.

During the three years Laura and I have been in the program, I can’t recall a single post from a family member that was critical of a player or a coach. I'm proud of that fact... it's a rare thing these days.

I encourage you to become an active LU volleyball fan, and plan now to enjoy this website. Don’t hesitate to express your excitement for an upcoming match, or share your ideas on how we can bond as a group and show support for the girls.

My wife and I will be flying out from Oregon to watch the first two tournaments.

Sometime during the Virginia Tech weekend, I would like to suggest family members, friends, and fans get together for a meal – someplace where we can walk around and introduce ourselves. Maybe we can find a pizza restaurant that has a private room.

I’ll also work with Nicki’s dad to organize a pre-game meal at the Vines (we can simply hangout in the upper area of one of the sections). I will work with the coaches to see what we can and cannot do. Note: It’s always good to keep coaches in the loop.

That’s it for now. GO LIBERTY VOLLEYBALL!!!

Gymtalk,

How nice of you to volunteer me to cook at the Vines  I can't wait. What a great way to start off the year at LU.

Welcome to LU and to Division I volleyball to all the new freshmen and their parents. I think I speak for all the other parents when I say we will do whatever it takes to make you feel welcome and part of the LU volleyball family.

Thank you ATrain!

I too would like to meet up with you BJWilliams.

You're an excellent cook Vadim! I remember well the fantastic meal you made in our kitchen last summer. Hey, maybe we (several willing parents) can Bar-B-Q (burgers) outside the Vines, and eat/visit inside with the A/C.

Idea: Hey Vadim, remember last year at Kansas State... I thought it was cool how the Kansas State volleyball parents had a tail-gate party and served home-made icecream. It looked like a good idea. It was also very thoughtful of them to include us. I'd be willing to make some home-made icecream to go with your Bar-B-Q.

Note: I'm suggesting this as a pre-game meal and event for families and friends. Should be expand the idea to include students? Use it as a way to increase attendance? Maybe we don't serve them a burger, but only homemade icecream. We could make 6 batches of icecream and say, "Come and get it while it lasts."

I was there, eating with a new Honors student and his family. The student's uncle was actually on my hall when I was in college in Chattanooga: small world.

You know, Vadim is originally from NC...I'm sure he's still got some of those Carolina BBQing skills that those folks are known for.

Hey BJWilliams,

Yes, bring your computer... it's a great idea! Both old and new families need to sign-up and start talking-up LU volleyball.

For your trouble, you get a big plate of NC Bar-b-q... Vadim called and said he's ready and willing to do his magic at the grill.

I can bring my smoker up and smoke some pork for some great BBQ. I make a pretty good cole slaw as well. We could have some good eats before some great volleyball.

Debbie and I will also be in town from Michigan for the first two tourneys and would love to meet the new families too. We will definitely be at any and all gatherings for the players parents! Can't wait!!!
