MILAN -- United States defender Oguchi Onyewu has joined AC Milan on a three-year contract the club said Tuesday, becoming the first American to join Serie A in more than 10 years.Finally. With as many Americans there are playing in England, I've always thought that for us to get better, we need guys in the Serie A. While it's not considered the best league, it's a league that will help develop creativity and ball-handling skills, which is what the US team has always lacked. Hopefully this will start a trend.
Milan acquired Onyewu from Standard Liege in Belgium after some outstanding performances in the the United States' run to the Confederations Cup final last month.
