If not, you need some sort of punishment since it's a guarantee. haha

You should have said he will "have taken more snaps AT QB than anyone else" because I bet Mike Brown ends up with more snaps than Beecher regardless of who's the QB.

Beecher Im sure is a good QB but I voted for Brown. I think its his job to lose going into camp and add to that his dual threat capability which no doubt Coach Wachenheim would want to make significant use of.

I don't think Coach Wach probably has much interest in the LU QB battle at this point.

I'm leaning Beecher in the opener with Mike taking snaps similar to the way we utilized ZT the past few years. Coach Rocco now has a track record in regard to how he implements his weapons on the field.

I think alot of you are forgetting that beecher wasn't very good at SC and didn't have a lot of big game experience. I just don't understand why people are automatically going with beecher cause he's a transfer from USC. Mike is very capable to start and lead this team from the QB position and Beecher would be coming to LU regardless of weather he got the start or not.

Granted...a very tough call. One argument that has come up several times is that Beecher would have come to LU anyway. That is an extremely weak argument. If he doesn't want to play football then it shouldn't be in uniform. Of course he wants to play I guarentee you he wants to start so stop throwing out that statement of "he would have come to LU anyway". The fact is that neither quarterback is really game tested or truly experienced. They are both talented. Rocco is loyal to the team so the guy who he feels will put up the wins is going to start. This is a position that will be won or lost in camp....but I do agree with a previous post....I think you will see a lot of platooning depending on the situaiton and whose hot.

With all due respect, BJ, you might want to brush up on your current events.

If both Beecher and Brown play up to expectations, IMHO it makes more sense for Beecher to start at QB with Mike at WR. We can then mix in plays with Mike at QB to utilize his unique skills.

With Beecher only having 1 year of eligibility, and Mike with 3, if they are even in terms of talent and ability should we start Mike because he is younger?

With the whole beecher would have come anyways thing...sure he would have but I dont think he would choose to waste 20-30 hours a week (whatever it is) if he wasnt going to get the nod.

Forgot about that CJ, thanks. I dont know why coach Wach came to mind when I was thinking about this QB battle.

BTW RC I actually WILL now write about the moves in my blog now that you brought it up, thanks for the inspiration.

Mike still offers a ton of versatility that Beecher doesn't give us. I don't think starting him just on the basis of him having more years of eligibility left would be a wise move. As I said, this is his job to lose right now. He's a captain on this team, and last year when he finally got on the field he showed a lot of promise. He won the #1 position over Landis, a MORE experienced QB, in the spring. Does that mean that Beecher shouldn't have a fair shot...absolutely not...he's going to get his chance to earn the job and that can only make both guys better in the long run.

So do you think the coaches told him he'd start or something? Of course he thinks he's going to. He's a competitor. The coaches are going to put the best guy out there, and I think the best guy is Mike Brown.

No coach in their right mind would tell him he's going to start. I do believe enough was said to talk him into putting in the hours needed to be on the team rather than take the easy route and just concentrate on school. I believe he knows more then anyone other than Rocco and Beech will ever know though.

That last sentence makes no sense. But yeah, of course he was told he'd get to compete for the starting job. Everyone is told that. I just think the "Beecher didn't come here to sit" argument is a stupid reason for saying he'll definitely be the starting QB. If you think he's better, say that.

I'm not really going to disagree, but I'm not completely sold on Brown yet ... or Beecher. Tough, tough call looking at it from the outside. I guess we'll know in a few weeks.

You guys need to go watch practice on Mon and Thurs nights. You'll get a better idea of what's happening . . . and if you're not there to see it, there should be someone there who will post what's happening. It would be helpful for us all. It's my understanding that Mike Brown has been running mainly at WR, which should be a big hint at how this thing is going to play out. No doubt that Mike Brown will be on the field. Also FYI - Tommy had no intention on going to Liberty or anywhere else for more schooling - he wanted a break from the classroom . . . he had a very good job offer to use his Actuarial Degree.

If he's enrolled in school he can work out with the team.
