I think he said something to the effect that the upgrade programs cause more problems than a fresh install. Also...I don't know if this is true or not, but what happens later on if you have to do a complete re-install of Windows. You probably can not do that from an upgrade disk.
On a separate, but related note, at what point in time will you be able to get Win 7 on new computers? Will they come with Vista, and then you can get upgraded to Win 7?
I'd much rather spend just $50 to upgrade than $200 for the full version. I've done the upgrades from Vista to 7 RC and have had only very minor problems that were easily fixed (and those were problems with programs, nothing major whatsoever), so I'm not the least bit concerned. And seeing as how I very rarely ever have to reinstall Windows, I'd take the extra time to deal with having to reinstall Vista then doing the 7 upgrade if that's what I have to do, it's more than worth the dollar savings.
You will be able to buy computers equipped with 7 out of the box the day 7 is released. YOu can now order computers with an option to get the windows 7 upgrade free.
