The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, a Bucks source told ESPN.com.

Spurs are going to be one heck of a team to handle. They could have Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, some scrub, and Tim Duncan all on the floor at the same time

Does Milwaukee owe Poppovich a favor or something? Bowen and Thomas are both over the hill and Oberto is never going to climb it. That's as nearly as one-sided a deal as the Gasol to Lakers trade last year.

I heard Milwaukee was going to wave Bowen and Thomas and they are trading Oberto to the Pistons for Amir Johnson. So what it amount to in the end from the bucks POV is oberto for jefferson...

It's all about the money and getting rid of Jefferson's $29.2 million dollars over the next two years.

Yeah TDDance is right...

If they kept all 3 of them they clear 15 mil of cap space and if they cut oberto and bowen they wont lose that much money (Only like 3 mil combined guarunteed) and going into a season that is going to be followed by one the best free agency pools in NBA history it isnt a bad idea, Mix that with the possibility of a great draft pick and wanting to deal their only GREAT player (Redd) and you could rebuild in that free agency.


Question is: will the Spurs resign Bowen if they release him?

I would think so.
Bowen is still valuable as a defender for 15-20 mpg. However, they weren't going to get by with him starting this year. It's time to cut bait with Michael Finley though.
