There was a group from NC State that got a warning from the NCAA saying that they couldn't have a "John Wall please come to State group" saying that it was a recruiting violation.

I can't see how it would stand up in court but pretty ridiculous those things have to be monitored.

Yea, I'd say he is easily 300. He competed in wrestling at around 275-280 so he has gotten much bigger and stronger since the football season ended. During the football season he was listed at around 265.Kid could be a real beast next year.

just saw that rivals has him listed 75 in the instate hot 100 for class of 2010, then there was a message that said he was 2011 and the rivals guy said they are taking a good look at him for 2011 does that count as a leak

If facebook pages are to be believed Jones just had a great performance at the the "Ultimate 100" combine up in NJ. This is suppossedly a combine for the top 100 underclassmen. He measured out at 6'5 and 301 pounds. Ran the shuttle in 4.8. Not bad for an OL. Was picked as one of the top six linemen and was selected to take part in the showcase. How close is LU to landing him and when can you actualy sign an underclassman? I'd hate to let another talented local slip away.

I wouldn't consider it "getting away" if a young man has offers from major college programs and decides that accepting one of them is in his best athletic and academic interest. The way its starting to look, The only reason we may be in the running for Grant is because of his family connections to the school and his upbringing. He thanked me for welcoming him to the board and called me "sir"! You don't see a lot of that any more. Since I know you will probably reading this Grant, I saw your dad wrestle and hold his own very well against Carleton Haselrig (for those who don't know, he was one of the greatest college heavyweights ever, and ended up playing oline for the Steelers.)

Old Flame, I am quite sure that the heavyweight you recall facing Carlton Hasselrig was Mike Hatch, no relation to Grant Jones. He finished second in NCAA Division II nationals twice, losing to Hasselrig a couple of times in his career, including the national finals. Grant Jones' dad wrestled several years earlier and never faced Hasselrig.

Just for the record....I agree he will and should go to college where ever he wants. My point was that I hoped Liberty could get him to play for them. LU is finaly starting to get some local talent, but historicaly they haven't done as well. Keeping LCA kids has proven somewhat troublesome. Of course with Rocco, Kelly and others on the LU roster that is changing as well. I am an old (emphasis on old) LU wrestler myself. Grants Dad wrestled around 78-79 or something like that. He was actualy a starter on the football team, but did a little wrestling on the side. He was pretty good ...I am not sure, but I believe he won the nationals back when LU was in the NCCAA (National CHRISTIAN College Athletic Association)
