On a side note, I have no clue if this is in the plans, but what would be absolutely awesome is if they built a deck off of the donor room (think Wake Forest). You could put two sets of french doors the donor room, leading out to the deck, and then the donors could either watch the game from there or just eat their pregame meal there. They'd have the scoreboard on top of the visiting concession stands to look at and with our games on tv, if they wanted to see a replay they could just turn and check out one of the flat screens.

The pictures shows it above the FOC, but you gotta keep perspective in mind. The drawing is from the point of view of looking up from the field. But there's really no way to tell for sure, since right now it's just a crappy drawing.

It's supposed to be above the FOC.

I don't know how much further back the FOC is (maybe too far), but the other thing that occurred to me is putting it on the roof of the building itself. It seems to be at the same level.
Great minds think alike!

Building wasn't built to handle that much weight on one section of the roof.
Could they put the coulumns right next to the FOC so it looks like it is part of the building?

Looking on the business side for you guys.....having two ad panels that change every 30-60 seconds will generate big-time revenue, once the economy rebounds of course and businesses start spending more freely on advertising again.

Nice look though. I'm still happy with the nice one we have at Spangler. Now if we can be rid of the middle school level boards in Porter Arena things will be better.

Regarding LU's new scoreboard, they already are.

It depends greatly on your venue, jk37. I can assure you the media are still waiting for a rebound in ad sales.

Did you see the picture? It's supposed to be above the FOC.[/quote]

It depends on where you are looking from. If the score board is not right next to the building then from some views, such as any of the luxury sweets, it will block the windows.

I am not talking about from the donor room looking out. I am talking about from the stadium looking at the FOC. If they could put it really close to the FOC then it will never block

the window. But this is just a drawing, so who knows. I still think it looks goofy as heck though.

why do you need to look at the FOC windows if your in the luxury boxes? Why is that such a big deal? I agree with you, it should be closer to the FOC than further, but I dont understand that reasoning is all

The windows make the building look better. I wouldnt want to cover up any of the building from any ones view in the stadium. I am neither a huge donor nor am i an architect, just have an opnion.

From JB at the Flames Club luncheon today:

1. The old scoreboard above the other end zone is coming down.
2. Our new scoreboard, he said, would be the best one in any FCS stadium in America.
3. The jumbotron part of the scoreboard will be as wide as the donor window in the FOC and 20 feet tall.

Just the scoreboard though? Will we still have the giant logo on the other side or will the structure be totally gone? I like the logo for people on the outside looking in.

I am like a little kid at Christmas and can not wait to see this. I love the scoreboard and hope that it looks great the way they are planning to put it in.

but at the same time, if you cant make it to the game but your driving by there towards the end, now you can see the score, as opposed to before having to go drive down byt the FOC and catching a glimpse of it

Hopefully soon. we're about 15 weeks away from the home opener. I know that the weather hasnt exactly been favorable at times so hopefully we can get a nice long run of good weather and they can really get rolling on it

Yes, I'm sure this effected the decision for the new scoreboard heavily! ;-)

I'm sorry, but I saw this and just had to chuckle. I'm just pickin' on ya rueful...

I must have missed that. I would've said something otherwise. I highly doubt anyone thought about the person who had to miss the game but was driving down 460 towards the end and wanted to check the score when they were coming up with this.

it was more when I was getting off work and driving to pick up my girlfriend from the circle on university blvd., 460 has no view of the field. And it was before scores were on twitter, so come on.

I have a new job now though, so I shouldnt have to miss any games
