I searched but couldnt come up with much on what people thought of his speech. I personally really enjoyed it and felt like he was funny yet touched on all of the topics needed. I've been familiar with him outside of movies and TV so his intelligence didnt take me off guard, however I think there must have been many who only knew him in one realm and walked away impressed.

I also have heard he truly enjoyed his time here and has been staying in contact with LU every day since he's left. I suppose its like all of the coach's at LU say, all they try to do is get an athlete on campus for a visit and the school/facilities and spirit sells itself.

yeah, i was up at the wingate after and he came in, told his driver to wait, and went around and talked to everyone, real approachable guy and he genuinely showed he loved being at liberty, I think mainly because of what Jerry did to help israel?

Two things to note of his speech: 1) he really just talked mostly about expelled, a few other topics yeah, but mostly about his accomplishment. He really didnt even speak to the graduates except for the ten seconds he said "the average graduate has $30,000 in debt but with the stimulus package of last fall you will have $300,000.

and secondly, his favorite verse came out of the new testament, so what exactly is going on with his faith?

HMO, since you asked for feedback, the topic is also discussed on the FFF message board:

http://www.fundamentalforums.com/libert ... -09-a.html

(note: the only negative comment is from Budding Theologian, who is a graduate of Radford, Tenn. Temple, and is currently a seminary student at LU).

My favorite part is that they put him up at the Wingate.

Cider thanks for the info about Budding. He also talked about LU women volleyball player's uniforms being immodest.

Hmmm....if he wasn't turned on by them....he wouldn't think they were immodest would he?

How do you go from Radford to Tennessee Temple? I think that that amount of culture shock could literally kill a person.

You might suggest that a Radford experience would drive some to extremes.

I agree 100%. The majority of the speech seemed like an infomercial about Ben Stein to me. I really thought it was a poor graduation speech since it wasn't much of a challenge to the graduates. Every LU graduate has already been through dozens of classes telling them why evolution is wrong, tell them something that will inspire them to go out into the real world and make a good life for themselves.

Why bother? Unless you're funny, 90% of the graduates at any commencement are paying more attention to their latest text message or the bouncing beach ball than to the speaker.

Whats scary is, he's not the only one I've heard who feels that way. Several RAs have made the same complaints.

I'm afraid they'd drown trying to swim in them... Talk about a lifeguard's nightmare!

and re: the whole v-ball uni thing... he's ust ticked he'd never have a chance to date an LU player, or he'd change his 'opinion' in a heartbeat. maybe we can dress a fat chick up in a burka and send them out on a date. that might be "modest" enough for him.

I'm enjoying these stories about stupid comments concerning how LU women dress, particularly the athletes. Could we start another thread along those lines? Of course I have one about comments made about LU men's bb shorts - from a pastor.

that was the most retarded 5 minutes of my life I have ever spent. Are those the guys that preached against LU in the video? Seriously. its people like that that make people want to kill themselves rather than go to church.

Can you imagine if your track team had to compete in longer/baggier clothing?

Personally, if someone has a problem with us competing at the NCAA D-I level, than they need to find a christian school that doesn't have sports (or at least they are not competitive enough to wear the standard uniform). I understand the concern for modesty, but the baseball team wears tight pants, the track teams wear spandex type clothes/short shorts, volleyball has short shorts, I don't even need to comment on wrestling gear. There is science that backs up the fact that those things make a difference in performance. Are they suggesting that those things harm our christian stance as a university, or that it is hypocritical to the rules that the rest of the student body have to abide by?

Not trying to be mean or anything, but I think this is a little stupid:
May God help preachers in this generation to make the Bible their authority, not tradition, and call this ungodly practice what it really is – sin. Any doctor that looks upon and touches a woman’s private parts in his office “hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Sir, if you let your wife go to a male gynecologist, you need to get right with God.

EL-OH-EL. I've always wondered if guys like this let anybody else read their stuff before they go ahead and publish it.
"Hey Jim Bob, how does this sound, 'Women have been giving birth to children for the last 6,000 years without the aid of male doctors, and yet Christians today seem to think that a woman must expose herself to a male doctor in the name of medicine. This is totally ridiculous and contrary to God’s word.'"

"Gee Billy Ray, I don't know. Didn't a high percentage of women die due to child birth complications as recent as 70 years ago?"

"Good call. Glad I let you look it over before I made myself look like an idiot. By the way, what's your take on medicine and hospital care in general. A sin hands down right?"
