As I step into the car I realize the floor of the car has about 2-3 inches of standing water. I wasn’t too surprised by this so I headed to the gas station right around the corner to fill up and vacuum the water out of the car. Well, their vacuum is broken. I figured I stop at one on the way into work.

About 6-7 minutes down the road I hear this loud crackling noise. It sounded like a bomb exploded in the back seat of my car, but the noise was constant. After almost crapping myself I realized it was the speakers in the car which sounded like they were all about to explode. I figured water must have gotten into them. I was almost to the gas station at that time, and I pulled in to vacuum the water out of the floorboard. The crackling noise only got louder and louder. I swore it sounded like my car was about to blow up. I decided I’d stop by the mechanic after getting the water out of the floorboard, but as soon as I got back in the car the crackling noise stopped. I was thinking maybe it was just a little water in the speakers and it had eventually dried up and I would just go to work instead of the mechanic. So for the next 4-5 minutes, silence. Then as I pull into the parking lot it started up again. Then stopped again.

I don’t know what to do with that piece of junk.
If you have the money, I would recomend getting some kind of Honda. My Dad is a mechanic and the only cars he recomends are Honda and Toyota. When my Mom got her Ford she liked it at first but now all she will drive is her Honda.

the genesis made my list of cars to look at when im in the market again. the sedan though.
not hard to do when chrysler and gm have a band of suited thugs holding a proverbial gun to their heads and driving costs through the roof.

Actually, no...He's a diesel mechanic...He and his friend co-own a shop where they fix busses and heavy-weight trucks and tractor trailors (and tractors occasionally)

Your leak maybe coming in thru your windshield molding. On my old buick I would have a puddle of water on the passenger floor during a hard rain.

I have a 97 Toyota and love it, would buy another one when I have too

Yeah I do. That's not where the water is coming from though. It's the wierdest thing. The only thing that gets wet is the floorboard.

Oh and I will never buy a Mitsubishi again.
Creepy! I owned an '02 Lancer up til last year. Had the exact same prob, only in passenger floorboard. Took it to dealership. Its a faulty seal at the base of the windshield. The water runs down the vents there and into the floor. Take it in and get the seal redone.

Are you having any trouble with the A/C fan?
