16x9 SD is more than adequate for the scoreboard. Glad to see this will happen in time for the opener.

There's a reason why it's not in the other endzone.

When they do the stadium expansion and horse shoe that side in (which is on the five year plan so I'm not breaking news here) half the stadium wouldn't be able to see the scoreboard if it was on that end. When you're spending that much money on a scoreboard, you want everyone to see it.

Looks great! Hopefully when it's built, it will be tall enough so that the goal post and net posts will not spoil any of the view. Wonder what will be on the backside? If it is tall enough they could paint the championships or "Home of the Flames".

The new scoreboard was planned with the plans for stadium expansion in mind. Nothing new about that. In fact, could there be even more stadium additions before this season???

Put as many seats as you can add in there...Some little game against JMU might bring a couple of extra people to Williams.

You could add at least one more section on each side of the stadium moving closer towards the FOC. This would further help “enclose” the stadium. I’m not sure how many seats are in each section, but I would guess there’s about 1,000 in each one.

Really Rooster?

You don't pay attention very well, especially since someone already explained this in the thread before you posted. The horseshoe expansion has been news for a while.

that's exactly to what I was referring: though my understanding was the other end (by the guest locker rooms)

If you look at the site- it would be less disruptive and require less re-grading to put the sections down there; the ground tapers away pretty quickly toward the FOC. I believe we had "grass" seating there already.

then again, no one asked my opinion.

So is it really going to be 16x9 then? Please please please don't stretch it on the scoreboard. Ugh.

Also: Who ponied up for this thing?

I could get used to the columns i think, but I think they should enclose the scoreboard in brick to keep it in motif with the rest of the design of the school. having it free standing just sitting on top of 4 random columns looks a little goofy.

it will have to be really tall not to block the glass windows in the FOC

Personally, I like the columns, and they would seem to be the best option to support the scoreboard without completely blocking the view of the FOC. I don't know how much further back the FOC is (maybe too far), but the other thing that occurred to me is putting it on the roof of the building itself. It seems to be at the same level.

Did you see the picture? It's supposed to be above the FOC.

Building wasn't built to handle that much weight on one section of the roof.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
