mrmacphisto wrote:This is the same experience I had when I went originally. I think I wrote about it earlier in the thread. I don't think it's a real restaurant. It's like if you went down to the Marriott (do people still call it that?) and they tried to fool you into thinking it's a restaurant by putting neat things on the wall and giving you a waiter. Same food. They need to take down the billboard on Wards until they fix this place.Fumblerooskies wrote:I doubt that DOC would want his name affiliated with something...especially an eating establishment...that has developed such a poor reputation. I loved the atmosphere...the food was a B-...but the service was simply abysmal.I finally ate at Doc's today, and sadly I agree with our dear departed friend Fumblerooskies. The only differences were that the service was decent while the food was more like a D at best. My brother and I both got barbecue bacon burgers, and they were like the McRib of burgers. The patties were too perfectly shaped, most likely frozen before cooked, and they were rubbery and bland. The bacon was thin and tasteless, almost like turkey bacon. My brother's fries were actually pretty good, but my chips were far from being homemade, as the menu boasted. Do they think I was born yesterday?
I'm sure some would say I should have tried this or that, but if you're going to call yourself a diner, at the very least, you need to get your burger right. Of course, Doc's Diner is really just a diner-themed restaurant, and in the end what I got was a burger-themed meal. I won't be back.

Barbie's Biggest Fan wrote:I admit it's the meal point option that keeps me coming back. I'll never order a salad again - the pain from food poisoning was absolutely terrible. But, I've given it a second chance. It's slow and mediocre, but a lot of Lynchburg fits that description.but the thing about food poisoning. Perfect excuse to get out of any class. It strikes at any moment, theres no way the prof can ask for proof, and its a quick solution.

flamerbob wrote:As a former restaurant manager and Safe Serve teacher, there are only two ways to get sick from a salad. Bad meat, which you would taste, or unproperly washed foliage, which can give you other things besides food poisoning i.e. E coliCould've been either. It was a chicken caesar salad... tasted good at the time.

Would this be on Campus? What's interesting is that years ago, prior to the Wingate being built I heard someone say Jerry told him a hotel was going on that site with Bob Evans. The hotel went there but Bob Evans obviously didn't pan out and went below the tracks on Wards Rd. Funny that the site is still looking for a restaurant.[/quote]
