The student was taking a test in Moon’s office, Wetzel said. Because she suffered headaches and backaches, he offered to give her a massage after the test.

She lay down on the floor, and Moon began the massage, Wetzel said. The student fell asleep. When she awoke, Moon was touching her genitals, Wetzel said.

Wetzel said prosecutors’ evidence shows Moon had previously given the student massages at her home on campus.
Are you kidding me? It is completely inappropriate for any college employee (unless one of the duties of the employee is performing massages), much less a professor, to be giving a massage to a student in the first place, especially in teh students residence!
agreed.

my dad ALWAYS left his office door open ANYTIME ANY student was in there with him. he also had a tv monitor strategically positioned so that it would act as a mirror so that anyone walking by could see his entire office specifically to prevent anything REMOTELY like this.

that being said, if the student was comfortable enough with him that she let him give her massages at her HOME (um...WIERD!) why all of a sudden is she bringing this up? IMO both are at fault. him first of all for even creating that situation, and her second of all for having that kind of alleged relationship with a professor.

Where are all these details being heard? I'm really curious b/c it seems more like a false accusation to me.

I just read that news story. First off, what girl is naive enough to lay on the floor and let her MARRIED professor massage her - strike 1. The fact that "evidence shows Moon had previously given the student massages at her home on campus." -- perhaps they meant off campus because there was NO way he was ever in a girl dorm - strike 2. Bits and pieces of this don't even make sense. All I wanna know now is who this little girl is and why she was so ignorant to begin with.

If this truly happened, then she is a victim. If it didn't, then her name will be published and she will forever be known as a liar, along with Chrystal Gail Magnum of Duke University Lacrosse fame.

What you say is completely right, she would be a victim IF it's all true. But regardless, it's one of those situations that you should be aware of before doing it. If all these prior meetings are legit, then she walked right into it. Doesn't make it right by any means, but in situations like this the girl is at fault too.

Similar thing happened with my soccer coach and Spanish teacher. He's now in jail and the student is just as slutty as ever. She deserved what she got because it was "consensual" yet he's the one in jail now. Wrong yes, but unfair nonetheless.

wow if you read that news advance story earlier this girl is delusional or something. I mean if all that happened they are both nuts but too much of that just sounds made up to me. It would be interesting to know the proof they are speaking of when they say that the prosecution has past evidence of this type of thing happening

just another thought, I hate it that everytime the local news interviews kids from the campus they find people with no clue. I'm usually embarassed to hear the interviews and the 2nd girl on News7 was just flat out embarassing. If you have no knowledge of the situation you should probably be quiet

While I don't disagree that this all seems a bit strange, it is thoughts and comments like the girl being a "retard" or liar that make so many victims of abuse never come forward. They are afraid that they will be blamed (and often do blame themselves), called a liar, etc. I have no knowledge of this situation other than what I have read, and like most of you, have questions, but we need to be careful in what we say about the girl. Like ATrain said, at this point she is the victim.

Seriously....Something seems a tad fishy.................
Let me guess, you also had him for statistics. Then again, probably not.

On the flip side, there are a ton of liars that come up with a BS story and drag good people through the mud, which cause us to doubt the real ones.

which i think was the point of fan00 saying lets be careful not to judge this girl based on other people not always being honest, in case as we assume, she is a real victim.

in case people dont see the thread i posted under the chapel, Jeff Taylor, aka fumbleroskies, was just taken to the hospital. he was pitching batting practice to his son over at Lynchburg College and somehow got hit by a ball in either the throat or head and was not breathing. i don't know anything about his condition as of now, but the LC EMS and security responded very quickly.

Would the school have to legally do their own investigation to fire him?

Dont they have a reasonable cause to believe that there was some kind of violation of school policy, to fire him.

Virginia is a right-to-work state, so employers can pretty much fire anyone for any reason

saying it looks fishy is not judging anything. They are both delusional if this truly did take place and no she is not necessarily a victim just because that happened (if it did happen). There is too much info that is not public to draw any conclusions other than this is a incredibly weird circumstance.

Weird, yes, but if he touched her anywhere in anyway that was not consenual, then she is a victim. Should he have been giving her a massage? No. Should she have had this type of relationship? No...however, that does not excuse his actions if he did what she said he did.

I can attest to this, both in a Virginia sense and in a Liberty sense.
