Just come out and say it's Austin. He's been iffy since January. He's changed his mind as many times as I've changed my underwear over the past few months.

He was recruited there initially but chose LU. I got the feeling all along that Austin was homesick. We had a 30-minute conversation about Arizona when I wrote that story on him in February, since I used to live there.

They had a terrible season last year but previous to that had made four straight trips to the Big Sky championship game, uh, losing all four. Two NCAA appearances in the last decade, both as 15 seeds, and in both, they led in the final minute before losing.

To add to it - Flagsatff, AZ is a fantastic town especially if you like big time snow skiing/boarding. A bit overcrowded, though. I lived there for awhile and loved it.

Sad to see him leave. While I didn't watch a lot of Liberty games, it was cool to see a Tucson kid playing there.

BTW, they lost to Gregg Marshall's Wicthita St. team this past season- only by 5, I believe.

It's a shame to lose yet another player but we'll move on. At least we break up a little bit of the recruiting classes and that 2013 season won't have 7 new faces.

Actually, we could have as many as 7 freshmen again next year; that scenario being if both Austin and Johnny leave and all 3 of the available scholarships go to HS recruits, plus Carter, who will be a (redshirt) freshman. I have a gut feeling though that we will get a JUCO player or 2.

Wow we got 15 days, I hope more info comes out soon, It really seems like Layer takes his time. With Mckay things seem to happen faster, Will see what happens i hope Layer is able to pull off a great recruiting class with whats left of the signing period

I would not say Layer has been moving slowly at all, although the bottom line is who is on the court in November, not how soon they signed.

He had a NLI from Patrick Konan, a player who wasn't even on our radar screen before, within a week of his hire. He has retained Vander Pol and got a letter from Perez, and hired 2 assistants, and let's not forget his number 1 recruiting coup, which was getting Jesse to stay.

Keep in mind also that there has been (and still may be) some ambiguity as to who is returning and who is not. I expect at least 1-2 more signees before May 20.

Come on rooster, try to keep up. When mckay left he turned his attention to uva, who apparently wasn't interested, and vcu. And word here is he won't qualify/clear for anybody anyway. He'll probably wind up prepping.
