Inmate escapes from jail in Lynchburg

They interviewed some local Amherst residents on the news tonight to see if they were "afraid" of having a escaped convict on the loose. Some old guy, said "No, he better be afraid of us."

I escaped from a Lynchburg jail, too... Doctors note said I didn't have to live in the dorms anymore!

It's run by something called the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority. I'm not sure if it has been posted in this thread, but this was the first escape since the new regional facility was built several years ago, and the guy went to pretty great lengths and took a substantial risk to accomplish it.

Captured:

Larry Dodson Jr. was apprehended after “a high speed chase, crash and foot pursuit that recovered the fugitive hiding in a shed at a cell tower in rural Chatham County,“ according to a U.S. Marshals press release.

Authorities tracked Dodson to Louisiana several days ago.

“Dodson was forced out of his comfort zone and fled Louisiana in a stolen pickup truck,“ the release says.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, Georgia State Patrol spotted a speeding pickup truck on Interstate 95. After a chase, the truck crashed. The driver fled to a swamp, and authorities found Dodson in the cell tower shed, U.S. Marshals say.

After he is tried on the charges he faces in Georgia, he will be extradited to Virginia, U.S. Marshals say.

Yeah, kinda disappointed to see him get caught actually...lol

He should've snuck over the border to Mexico IMO. then again, most criminals aren't that bright, hence, why he was in jail in the first place!

hahaha i agree that had he been smart enough to go to Mexico he probably would have been smart enough to not have gotten in jail in the first place......

great story though, but how do you end up slipping up and speeding and getting caught, at least make it epic and have a cross state high speed chase before you get caught so us at home can have a little fun watching
