Personally, I don't think we'll have very many upperclassmen join, especially before the first game. Most of the ones I've talked to think it's pointless and don't think they should have to pay to sit closer. Once they get to the first game and are sitting 20 rows up or something like that, then maybe they'll join. The Red Man Group hasn't joined yet and if they don't, they won't be able to show up 5 minutes before the game and go right to the front. We want them to join but if they, or anyone, don't, we're not making exceptions. The only reason there is a cost is to cover the t-shirt, cover stuff for tailgating, and other random costs throughout the year. There's a 15% discount on clothes at the bookstore, there's free food before games, it pays for itself. As the year goes on I think it'll catch on more and more.

Can anyone confirm this rumor--that Mark Hines OK'd (I'm sure he shed a tear, too) the Student Flames Clubs members to wear their T-shirts the first week of class, in order to boost enrollment? Pretty cool, is they are. Nothing like bribing the students with a relaxed dress code to drum up school spirit.

I haven't heard that for sure, I know we wanted that to happen, but I haven't heard if it was confirmed or not.

The students will get caught up in Rocco Ball and will want to join in the fun. It will carry over to hoops, too. Should be an exciting year for student involvement.

There's no set amount. However much we need to take up we'll use, whether it's 5 rows or 15.

All I am going to say is this.....the Lunatics idea was in the minds of people my Freshman year, when we had T-Shirts made during the guys Big South tournament run. It's about time we were called the LUnatics, because I dont think people enjoyed being called a Flamer.

Maybe the LUnatics name will catch on (I hope so) but right now we're marketing Student Flames Club. We're around 425-430 now with a lotta kids saying they were interested but didn't have money on them.

We had around 200 tonight at the first meeting with about 15-30 new people signing up for the club. Coach Rocco spoke and made me ready to go out on the field right then. He said he wants the SFC to get a tour of the new FOC and would even give it personally. There's a new tradition he's wanting to start where after every win, the football team comes over to the students and the band plays the fight song while the team and students both sing it. Everyone seems excited with it.

I always thought they were pretty lame anyway. They'd come marching in at tipoff/kickoff trying to make a spectical of themselves. That is where I draw the line between dorky losers and passionate fans.
