Is he coaching anywhere now? If not, that seems like a really bad idea to me.
SCAR keeps in close touch with him and posted that he really wants to come back to LU. Because of all the experience he has gathered playing all over the world, Julius has been essentially a player/assistant coach on most of the pro teams he has played on lately, as well as the Nigerian national team.

That doesn't count in my book. The last thing we need is a guy who's learning on the job at the D-1 level.

If he hasn't already, SOMEONE (hint, hint) needs to arrange for JB to meet Julius face to face for more than a quick handshake. Juice is an impressive person, with a dynamic personality, and while he may not have much coaching experience per se, his basketball resume is pretty impressive....... If nothing else DIVERSE!

We're talking 3rd assistant or basketball ops here, not head coach or right hand man. Believe me, he brings a lot to the table.

As far as Juice goes...normally playing pro ball isnt enough for me...but this guy is held in such high regard in his homeland that he has serious political pull and really could help us land a few of these over seas ball players so I dont mind it all that much.

Now a days you HAVE to have serious political pull to get players from over there

Considering that Kyle Getter probably doesn't have to deal with the old Liberty worship that Juice would, yes. I'm guessing that Kyle Getter spends a lot more time doing his job and a lot less time getting gladhanded by the Thomas Road crew.

If Suicie goes to UVA too, I can see a real backlash from a big portion of the university community. At least 3 out of 4 coaches who are that open about their faith at UVA? I can't see it working for long. First sign of a problem and it will be blamed on their Christianity.

you guys are not getting the point, Layer was fired by Colorado State on March 12th, 2007. His career record at Colorado State as a Head Coach was 103-106, and was only 31-71 in conference play After taking over for Mckay. After Mckay pick up and left Colorado state for a better job, sounds familar doesnt it[/b] Layer is not a Good head coach, which hes proven at Colorado state going 103-106 and 31-71, What makes you all think he will do better at Liberty with allot less resources and talent then he had colorado state. I do believe soucie and Layer are good assistant coaches, but thats all they are. Plus its clear that, its a matter of time when Mckay will get another shot at head coach at a bigger school and when that happens Layer and Soucie will Leave Liberty and Go with Mckay. If we loose Recruits and current players transfer, then so be it we will be much better with a new coach and staff. We want a head coach like Danny Rocco who truly beliieves in LU and has a passion for Liberty, not just somebody using us to get a better Job. What makes you think Soucie can even be a good Head Coach anyway, hes always been in Mckays Shadow. I pray that Jeff Barber not only gets a great coach, but somebody who will truly wants to be here for more than 2 seasons.
