I know Dom joked about it earlier, but if there is interest on his part, and there honestly could be, this would be a SOLID pickup. All the current players would have at least met him, since he was here while they were either playing or being recruited, and I mean, he is the top assistant at an NCAA tournament school, is a former NCAA Tourney coach, and really the type of guy we want here. He is an excellent recruiter, and an all around good guy.

Plus, he has been a head coach TWO places in almost 20 years as a head coach... he proves that he's a guy committed to the team he's with.
but if hes as committed as you say he is, why would he leave there. It kind of seems a little backwards to say "He is so loyal we should get him to leave his loyalty and come be loyal here"

First of all I am liberty grad from 2007 and was on staff with the Dunton's loons. I felt a sense of relief as i saw him walk out the door and watching Mckay step in. I thought all was peachy, but I know for sure that this coach Mckay was a phony from the start. He has hopped around from job to job until he lands here. I know for a fact that this man was no man at all. I feel like a lost puppy now because the university has only been discredited from these coaching decisions. Don't get me wrong the best thing to ever happen to LU was Barber but still this is straining even the best of AD's resolve to find a great coach. I wish that for once these men as the call themselves would act like one and do whats right and give all the money back that they haven't earned. I wish him the best although I know God won't bless him but i still wish him the best. Now about all the money that these other coaches are receiving its out of control. None of these men, i mean boys should ever receive that money. In the end this is all about the money never about one place or another if tomorrow UConn asks Mckay to be there coach for more money he will and so on and so forth.

He made a step up to be with his good friend at MU. He went from Associate coach here to Associate coach there, and I respect that decision from him. That being said, he's a head coach. He belongs as a head coach. That's what he does. And I would think there's a chance that he is interested. He was happy here, you could tell that. Why did he leave? Probably to move up in the ranks and get his name out there for a job opening. Well, now there's a job opening. And now he can come be a head coach again.

He loves this place...he'd be interested no doubt about it...it's been confirmed...this is a serious serious possibility

This guy was at TRBC with his family every time the doors opened...he's a great guy that bought into what were were doing

not really b/c if I float a name its only because it's a legit possibility and both parties would be happy...I've been in a funk all day promising myself I would not post on here for a few days but this really got my spirits up when I heard it.

I dont like posting names just to post names...you know putting every Christian coach you know name out there as a possibility...Dale got along with everyone and everyone loved him. All the other coach's on campus looked up to him as well as they did to RMK which says a lot b/c that doesnt always happen

Remember when they said Paul Westfal was going to coach here? hah!

This thread is so annoying to read.

What's funny is the more things change the more they stay the same. As a Heels fan for close to 30 years, I've always rooted against those two. Now it'll just make it even more interesting.

I could've sworn I called you at some point. Maybe I was going to and then something happened and I didn't. I meant to though.

I don't think this has to do with money now, as much as it has to do with the potential of a big paycheck and coaching a big conference program down the road. Perhaps I'm reading this wrong, but he was going to take a step or two back next year. He had some good kids coming in, and no doubt would have turned it around, but if they turn UVA around, he will have some serious offers coming in. Especially having great success at Liberty, and leaving and having success at UVA. Personally, I think he has a HORRIBLY tough job in turning UVA around!

With his track record of up and leaving programs every few years, I think many AD's of big programs would be leery of hiring him in the future to be HC.

haha, we are idiots for continuing to talk about this, we have given it more thought with our 13 pages of discussion than he did when deciding on the job lol. It didnt even take him 2 days lol.

You know God won't bless him? wow... I know people on here don't agree with the things I say or with what Coach McKay has done but even the harshest criticisms don't go this far. To announce yourself as a Liberty Alum and then say that God won't bless the guy? Come on... take a step back.

The nievity (if that's a word) of some of you "good luck"/"it's business"/"he's bettering his family" folks is comical. Are you not aware of what Liberty's mission is? I'm fairly certain if you had been around, you'd have made the same excuses for Cain. Or hey, what about that Judas guy. He made a decent profit. Gotta get paid right? It's just business.

Luconn. You hit on why I stopped posting. I am not happy and I was stepping on some toes. So I shushed. I think some feel we should always spin things in a happy way and just wish people the best. Look I do hope he does do well I really do. But I don't buy the story and I don't like it at all.

It is a message board after all.

I like the idea of Layer and Hildo but I don't think either fit jbs style.

I respect everyone's opinions and have not censored anyone. If I choose to want to believe the best in the man then that is my prerogative. All I ask is for everyone to keep things somewhat civil. flameshaw hit the nail on the head earlier in this thread with no end.

Well said sir and we will have to agree to disagree.

I am done with mckay comments and ready to move on to the search.

I think as we climb back out over the next few years depending on how many recruits leave we should change our name to the Phoenix. Haha

Welcome to the world of big time college athletics. We want to be good in sports and we have gotten pretty good in basketball and football, so it is natural for coaches to want to move to a higher level. I do not fault them for it because if given the chance I one day want to move to a higher level of coaching myself. Liberty has gone from firing coaches for not winning to having them leave because we win so much. I would gladly take the second option any day of the week.......

I don't think anyone on here faults a coach for moving on. I think they fault him for the way this was handled leading up to it and when it happened.
