That's fine. You are entitled to your opinion and your reasons just as almost every other poster on here that has mentioned his name is of the opposite opinion of you. I'm just saying after reading this thread and the other I referred to, I wouldn't feel welcome back here either.
Understandable. and i have no problem with jason as a person other than the way he acted at that game. Not saying what RMK said to him was right but i just don't think he's had the experience to be a head coach yet. give him a few years. Maybe get him an Associate Head coaching job and then we can talk about him coming to be the head coach.
Agreed. Maybe you guys should let him be the head assistant and recruiting coordinator. And about that game...I watched the whole thing from up close at the Vines, and he appeared to only get involved when McKay yelled at Duggar...not from his cheering. Maybe we saw things differently.

The game is in the past and I'm sure we did see things differently. I'd love to have him here as a recruiting coordinator or associate head coach or somthing like that.

Interesting that Dell Curry could be involved in the defection of a player (soon to be players) and our coach. There are some pretty good connections between Bennett and Curry. Also interesting that there was talk of a certain AAU coach that might have been added to the staff. He just so happens to be closely tied to Soko and hey... maybe McKay has been recruiting for UVa for a short while now, all on LU's tab. After hearing him Tuesday and then seeing how this has unfolded, I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

Fumblerooskies wrote:Coach is not going anywhere. He is secure at LU and in a great situation with a supportive administration. An ACC Asst would be a big step DOWN on the career ladder.

Now that I got that out of the way...just WOW! When you have someone who verbalized time and time again with such conviction about LU and this being a place for him (shaking my head)....just wow. Am I hurt and feel betrayed...heck yeah. This absolutely stinks. I feel for the kids he recruited and brought in...and for those who signed the letters of intent...but ESPECIALLY JB...who bought it all hook, line, and sinker (or should I say STINKER). This goes to show that a leopard NEVER changes its spots.

That all being said...I am not sure an ACC Asst is that big a step UP...or is even a step up. It is the ACC Assistants that are looking for Big South jobs, often. Certainly, an Associate Head Coach or something...may well be an upgrade in salary and prestige. If that, indeed is the case, I will repeat what I said about Seth...I can never fault a person for taking the opportunity to better him/her self...and I won't start now. But yeah...this one smarts.

Finally...as much I as was not fond of RD the person...and as much sentiment there is for/towards him in both camps...I think we all can agree on one thing: he bled LU through and through. I hope JB, JLFJR and the administration can find someone who will truely have that kind of TRUE PASSION for Liberty.

Don't make such strong assumptions. There is another possibility that seems more likely. But I do agree this will be cleared up shortly.

I'm starting to think we would have been better off without McKay. If all these guys leaving, and if most our recruits back out, with RM, than we will be in MUCH worse shape than when RM was hired! I LOVED the exposure we got this year, but we may become among the worst programs in the nation in the next few years! I certainly hope not!

Oh well, that is where we are in the world of Division I basketball. If we have success, the bigger programs raid our program. I didn't have a problem with Seth, but I think RM may have done us wrong here. I'm sure it makes total sense to him, but I guess he didn't want to move on without Seth and the Virginia job probably has a higher ceiling.

Get ready for a ROUGH couple of years at Liberty in boys basketball!

by the way, I remember Jason Allison when he was at Liberty, I just don't see HOW he would be a good head coach. I'm sure he has matured a lot since then, but I remember talking to him and playing against him in intramurals and I was less than impressed with his intelligence then. I wouldn't mind seeing him as an assistant but I'm not sure he would be a good head coach (of course I know nothing about him now).

If you didn't notice, I was just saying these facts were interesting. You should be proud that I would look at your post and see the validity in what you said.
BUT- I didn't see where you theorized the "McKay recruiting for UVa" thing!

Are you serious? Based on when he was in college and how he acted playing in the student center... this guy

I hope Seth Curry tears his ACL while diving for a loose ball.

I hope Ritchie McKay is on the sidelines as this happens. I hope Seth dives into him.
