You can edit that now. And why would Jason Allison want to come back to the school that Ritchie McKay told him "You aren't welcome here anymore"? So is he welcome back now? I hope he comes on here and reads what FlamesFilmGuy said about him and Duggar after the last game we played ya'll in L-burg. Then again, if he recruits kids that can do well from VMI in the Big South, then imagine what he could do with a school like yours.
Funny you are trying to call me out on this. but my reasons for not wanting JA as a head coach have nothing to do with his actions at that game.
That's fine. You are entitled to your opinion and your reasons just as almost every other poster on here that has mentioned his name is of the opposite opinion of you. I'm just saying after reading this thread and the other I referred to, I wouldn't feel welcome back here either.

I would like to think that a guy like JA would put the comments of a coach not committed to our school in the past and be more than willing to come here and coach. I would love to see him here, just convinced it would never ever happen.

First of all...

Regardless of whether or not being an assistant at a BCS school is better than being the head coach at a mid-major...

McKay is now a job-hopper. He'll always have that on his resume. He'll always have to explain why Portland State wasn't good enough, why Colorado State wasn't good enough, why Oregon State wasn't good enough, why Liberty University wasn't good enough.

If I'm the AD and I'm looking to hire someone... do I want someone who'll bolt first chance he gets*? Or do I want someone who is committed to seeing a project through to completion?

*and it's not like this guy has impressive credentials, either.

While we are throwing out ex-SEC coaches Mark Gottfried is looking for job too...we'll get great recruits but they won't get any better while they are here. On second thought....

Liberty's athletic department has been given sufficient resources to find the Flames an even better coach. Liberty strives for the best.

The coaching job was stressful. Some have said coach came down very hard on himself after losses. He he will be more comfortable with this assistant coaching job.

We can look forward to an even better men's basketball coach.

I'm extremely surprised at this news. Thought he had a good thing going at LU.

How old is he? While I think it's a step down as far as the coaching totem pole, it certainly is a lot less stressful. I can think of worst things to do than spending the last 7-8 yrs of your coaching career making 300k to be an assistant coach in the ACC.

He was making more than 300k as the head coach here, from what I thought.

Understandable. and i have no problem with jason as a person other than the way he acted at that game. Not saying what RMK said to him was right but i just don't think he's had the experience to be a head coach yet. give him a few years. Maybe get him an Associate Head coaching job and then we can talk about him coming to be the head coach.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Layer as head coach...however, I don't see it happening. He's in a good spot.

You're the man, dom.

And yes, I would proudly support this move, he's the only sloppy seconds head coach I want.

And whatever he made from LU was supplimented up to 600,000 by New Mexico as part of the buyout when they fired him. I'm pretty sure that is in effect for another year, and it would follow him to UVA.

I say more power to McKay for leaving for a bigger paycheck.

I've been around LU long enough to get screwed over a lot (everytime by someone that says 'testimony this'... 'testimony that'... 'honor this'... 'integrity that'... blah blah blah)

I happen to know of one guy at the top that's had like, what... 4 wives? I'm sure he doesn't feel bad when he looks at his bank account come payday. Oh, while we're talking money and lets not forget that Je$u$ i$ Awe$ome!

So while I anticipate those at the top will gnash their teeth and say all manner of bad things about McKay, I'm quite confident they are just mad he outplayed them at their own game, and for that, I say well done. Now go enjoy your nice big paycheck. You've earned it!

Oh, and i've said it before, but i firmly believe that the lack of loyalty and the rise of me first-ness in basketball is a function of the game, the players and the desire to make oneself look good by making everyone else look bad. You'll forgive me for ignoring CBB this year. I think I've watched a total of 2 tourny games.

Billy gillespie still wants to be a head coach, we would make espn news if we got him and some recruits. I mean he did have a good recruiting class. Kentucky ran him out off there.
