Ed Dantes wrote:Stephen wasn't at a power conference. He got recognized because he came up big for a small team when it mattered the most. If he was on Virginia or NC State or Tech, would we have cared so much about his story? I doubt it. He earned national exposure because he was at Davidson, not in spite of it. And because of the exposure, he's going to be in the NBA one day.

It's easy to criticize Seth. Really, really easy. There is a part of me that hopes he tears his ACL. But at the same time, Seth probably made a multi-million dollar decision. I've never had to make one with such magnitude. Maybe he hoped to be a March Madness darling, too. Then maybe he saw our conference champion, after busting its hump for an entire year, get its reward in the hands of a #16 seed and a date with North Carolina. There is no honor in that. There is no exposure. It's a lose-lose situation.

I wanted to transfer out of LU my freshman and sophomore years. I had the grades to go someone better. Ultimately I decided to stick it out at Liberty. I'm glad I did, if for no other reason than the opportunities that I had at Liberty would not have been available to me at a larger school. I co-hosted two talk radio shows on 90.9, did some play-by-play and color work, and headed up the op-ed & sports section of the student newspaper my senior year. Maybe I wasn't the best at my job, but I had fun doing it. And I'm eternally grateful for the experience. And I know that I was part of something bigger than me.

And I think that's what makes Liberty unique. I think that's why we have such awesome fans. We all see ourselves and our program as part of something bigger. And perhaps I can't express it better than Katie Feenstra did it when she helped the Lady Flames get to the Sweet 16: "Why not Liberty?... I could have gone anywhere, but God put me here for a purpose. I'm so thankful and blessed to be part of this team."

Let's hear them say that at VTech.
Hey, how funny would it be if Seth went to Wichita State?

Yall will be fine without him.

He could have left the school without throwing the conference under the bus in his released statement.

I hope he rides the pine at VPI, State, or Clemson.

Memo: We will be good...and we will be very good here soon. Next year we'll be in the hunt...I promise you that.

Here's what I love...next year we may finish 1st or 2nd in the BSC yet only win 20 games (still better then 18.) and we'll still have people say "See your going in the wrong direction!"

Ga Tech, Wake, NC State, Fla State. VT not happening.

I agree with HMO. LU will be just fine.

this sucks not just for LU but for the whole Big South. Curry was a recognizable name and quite the talent and when you are a low-major conference you take what you can get. I agree with the poster who said practicing and playing against better compitition will help Curry but the way he handled it and worded it wasn't good. I think even just sugar coating it and saying I'm looking for a new challenge in my life would have been better than saying I want to play against better compitition.

As far as where he will end up NC State may be a possible destination. Trevor Ferguson and Brandon Costner both announced within the last week that they are leaving school early and while NC State filled one of the scholly's they still have one open.

Of course we're in the hunt.. the season hasn't even started yet.

Maybe we'll have a facing the giants year because that would be sweet.

If he didn't blame the conference it would look bad for the coach. I just hope he doesn't go to Tech or UVA and ends up at a decent basketball school. I don't think he necessarily will play in the ACC though. That's probably the best bet.

NC State, even though I root for them, is kinda of bad place to go. I expect their coach is on the outs. I don't think Clemson or Wake have good coaches so I wouldn't want to see him go there either. FSU and BC are too far away.

I don't know if we play any ACC schools next year or in the coming years, but wouldn't it be funny if we did and LU beat Curry's team.

I look at it more as a blessing. We have dodged a bullet here. Now don't get me wrong, I think Seth is a great player. But the bullet we have dodged is having another LB here. And LB in all rights was a great player as well, but they are both selfish.

So I look at this as a way for us to have more of a team mentality. Hopefully there will be less selfishness on next year's team.
No you didn't. LB stayed at Liberty for 4 years. There were rumors of him transferring to NC State, but no he stayed here.

LB brought us a championship.

Seth did neither of those.

Never, ever compare Seth Curry to LB.

No, it was the player.

Ritchie McKay with Danny Granger @ New Mexico: 40-11
Ritchie McKay w/out Danny Granger @ N. Mexico: 42-42

Ritchie McKay with Seth Curry @ Liberty: 23-12
Ritchie McKay w/out Seth Curry @ LU: 16-16.
We had a completley different team last year, thats is a bad comparison

No 1st place finish..
No Tourney title..
No 1st Team All- Conference (No, he didn't deserve it either!)
No REAL trips to post-season play.. (Not that he showed up in the post season)

The conference is the same conference he knew about from DAY 1- his prepared statement is a crock- I'm sorry Flame fans but you've been treated like toilet tissue.. Used & flushed...

Better competition?? Another (average) freshman held him to 8 points last night- What A JOKE!!!
Exactly I'm proud of our Big south brethren not rejoicing in our loss but defending us. you guys are a class act. i know seth insulted you guys too by making the statement that he did. thanks guys
Agreed. As much as I dislike dingaling, he's made EXCELLENT points today.

I hope this isn't becoming a scary trend. We've lost two big parts of our future in the past two weeks...it's now the Jesse Sanders show. He's got to be the one to hold the rest of the guys together.

About losing verbals, I don't think Vander Pol is in danger of going anywhere and I think Perez and Soko are fairly safe bets.

I believe Tech already has a scholarship shortage. We can stop saying it's Tech.

Also keep in mind on how good the teams were that were built around LB compared to having Mantlo as the pulse...you dont build around those players you build around Jesse's and others that will ACTUALLY engage in huddles and at practice

Clemson got a very good look at Seth this year, and he played one of his best games against them.

We dont need him anyway, he never learned to pass the ball more. Just kidding.
Honestley it was a good decision on Seth's part, he has always wanted to play for a bigger program and he got his chance to do it. You can't be mad at him for it. I am really happy with Seth for the decision, I'm not happy for the team and him leaving. I wish him the best of luck

I can not and will not criticize a player or a coach who is trying to better himself in a better league playing with and against better competition than the Big South allows. I wish Seth all the luck in the world.

Vander Pol has signed a NLI. You'll know April 15 if the other three verbals stay the course and follow suit.

Vander Pol signed in the fall. Perez and Soko both have former HS teamates on our team (for now anyway; the way things are going, who knows about tomorrow?)

Seriously guys think about it...how well did our teams of the past play when they were built around a player like SC or LB? You build around the hearts, all these others are simply veins...granted some bigger then others but only veins

This sucks big time, sure. I WAS the biggest Seth supporter there was, but I'm glad he's gone. He was obviously playing for the name on the back of the jersey and not the name of the front.
