Jontel Evans is the PG commit to UVA that feeds Soko for an dunk, there is a couple of nice strips from soko in there too (although the two high school kids commentating dont mention it). Looks pretty athletic

A certain percentage of players who verbal have always changed their mind. It's nothing new. I would say a late verbal is more reliable than an early one, and when a player cancels all of their other scheduled recruiting visits, you can pretty well bank it.

on a side not, VCU and GMU are playing on ESPN2 for the conference. Man I didnt remember Mason being that big and long in person. VCU has a couple of good bigs as well to go with Maynor, should be a tough matchup in the NCAA for whoever the winner draws

In case it's not clear, Ovie's is coming to LU and is excited with the opportunity to play with this team and Coach McKay. He'll fit in well here.

Just looking at that video he could use a little work on defense. He got posted up a few times pretty easily. I like him because he's not just tall, he's thick. I like TE type big men.

hhaha, i saw that too, he didnt look very motivated on defense. A friend of mine has went to a couple of their games this season. His take on the team was that Soko looked like a real raw talent, just needed to be pushed sometimes. He also said that he thought having so many other good players on the team had definetely hurt Soko's numbers and that he should be a great get for a solid mid major. I agree with LUConn on having someone with a little thickness to bang around a bit if we need it

Trying to figure out how 6'8" and 210 is considered "thickness". That's less weight than Brolin, Austin, & Baker (and the same as Carter, who is 3 inches taller).

I was thinking the same thing CJ. I'm guessing they were going by what they saw in the video, but personally, I didn't see it. Hard to tell with the sketchy quality and the baggy unis. He may have put on a few since that 210 weight was posted, but I suspect anyone expecting him to be the banger that so many are longing for is going to be disappointed. I think our best bet there is Austin. Another 7-8 months in the weight room, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is a solid 230 plus by next season. The question is will he become mentally stronger as well.

I saw the video, and IMHO there is no way you can determine his weight from what is there. I can't anyway. Did you have a summer job as a carney guessing people's weight or something?

I've seen this guy in person. He's not skinny, but I wouldn't classify him as "thick." He will make a presence in the post on offense though.

Come on guys, those weight readings on our roster are bogus anyway. Do you think Seth is 6'3 180 or whatever it says. Stephen was at the GW game and I was standing 5 feet from him and he was exactly my height. I stand 6 feet tall. They always hike up these measurements a bit. I saw one of Soko's games in person and he is built like a cross between a Brolin Floyd and Anthony Smith, although I think he is a bit taller. It's impossible to see if he is any good on that team because Jontel and Tre take a ridiculous amount of shots from the box score, the highlights, and the game I saw in person. He looked pretty athletic, just needs a fire lit under him on D. I dont think he is going to be a Trevor Booker or something like that but I think he has the potential to really help us out and mix it up on the inside. joey Harris is like 6'5 and he plays the heck out of the paint for Coastal so you dont have to be 7 feet tall to do this.

Steph is a legit 6'3. I saw him at the VMI game and saw the pictures of people he stood with and he's legit. Seth is a legit 6'2 as well.

Well it appears you got a bit closer, I dont know it just didnt look like he is 6'3. I mean I'm 6 foot and a half maybe 6'1 and he didn't appear to be 2 inches taller than me. Oh well, I'm just saying I dont think you can read a lot into the listings of heights and weights but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway it's still 8-9 months before the kid would be in a game anyway so he has time to bulk up and mature anyway. 8-9 months can make a big difference in physique in a game at that age. A lot of the freshman this year should mature quite a bit as well
