I was wondering if anyone here in Lynchburg plays softball? I know there's a lot of LU kids on here but I was seeing if anyone was going to be here during the summer?

I don't know about people on here but I know there's a bunch of Liberty associated people that do. Briedis, Grijalva, and some of those guys are all on a team.

I see, I play with Boles (LU Baseball) but I'm hoping we will be traveling more this year hitting up some of the weekend tourny's so I'm trying to get a feel for who all does that I dont know about....I think I remember them playing coed? last year? Maybe that or they were in the league below us b/c I always saw them but never played them

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were coed.

I thought about finding a team for this summer (not nearly as serious as yours) but I don't even know if I'll be in town or not.

haha nah our Thurs team isnt that serious b/c we're in a league that's pretty relaxed which is nice...until you play Proto and he's behind the plate talking trash then we crank it up a little and win a Championship against them haha

Yeah, the only way I would play is a once a game week. I'm not into the tournaments and that junk.

i find league play to be the most relaxing and fun....tourney's are just full of wannabe big leaguers who think they are big time because they can hit a softball 300 ft with a trampoline bat...

i play in 2 or 3 a year but would rather be doing something else on my weekends...

Tournys can be fun...especially when you play against/with real former professional players b/c they are sick...maybe it's b/c I single and love playing but to me it's a lot of fun spending the day at a nice stadium playing ball

If I'm playing softball, it's just to stay active, hang out with my friends, and be involved in something that has a little competition.

I'm not spending $300 on a bat, getting different gloves, and all of that stuff.

However, I still remember my best softball moment. I was playing right field. There was a high pop fly with a runner on third. I caught it and threw a strike to the catcher to get the guy out. It was my best throw from the outfield whether playing baseball or softball.

My only other softball memory is calling my shot in a game. I asked someone where I should hit it, they pointed to right center field, and then I walked up and first pitch hit a homer to right center field.

Ok, I'm done talking about my softball skills. It doesn't take much to hit a slow pitch softball.

haha yeah, I remember that as well...it's easy to talk trash to the opposing teams 4 hitter when his hand is bleeding  and in the Championship game I was healthy...and we won...coincidence hmmmmm haha...and you know where the talent lies hence why your trying to steal our players!

yeah watching jose conseco hit blooper homeruns with noone on is always a blast...

we've played a few tourneys at big league dreams fields in texas. we play mostly C tourney's in chicago though. it gets old after a while....but i can imagine it being awesoem when i was younger...its annoying at times now. too many kids thinking they are hot isht.

most of my stories consist of a buddy named brian who swings a green est (junk) and gets made fun of but hits some of the most amazing pissmissles you'll ever see...who knows what woudl happen if he swung a composite.

C ball is pretty serious! We dont have to many C teams around here, NC has a few.

Tell your buddy to buy a Rip-it Reaper REAP2...he'll kill someone with it....seriously

Did you have the ASA version or NSA? I'm surprised some of our big boys said they had to beat a tree with it just to break it in...but that was the REAP2 though (ASA)

I'd like to play but I'd be terrible at it.

I am far better at being a spectator. :typing

Same here. Even when I was a little more in shape and actually somewhat athletically active, I was TERRIBLE at baseball and softball. My duty on my church's softball team was to be the 9th hitter, hit a slap to the third baseman, run it out, and then use my speed (which, in a church league full of old hags, my speed was like Jose Reyes) to get home. It worked a good amount of the time. Not to mention I got hit in the head on the throw to first like 3 times, and got a free double out of it. Not a bad trade.

ive never actually met anyone on this board, but id be in for some softball, a little bbq after or something.

I love at Intramurial softball, theres always the one dbag who thinks hes hot stuff and has to wear like a full on jersey to the game, like the pants tucked into the socks, the 3/4 shirt tucked in, the hat, the shades, and the eyeblack. its awesome to see him go up and strike out in slow pitch

I'm not a fan of the all the ASA & NSA stuff they play up here in Va (different pitch height). I'm more familiar with USSSA that we play back in North Carolina.

At times, I was in three different leagues during the week & playing in tourneys on the weekends. That got to be a bit much, but it was a lot of fun while I did it. Mostly played C for tourneys.

In NC, our leagues were "open", so regardless of your talent, you could play in the league. Some of the teams consisted of D & E players, or various mixtures, but one team was mostly B & A. This one guy that plays A ball hit one that was by far the longest shot I have ever seen. He now plays for a Louisville Slugger team & is making bank..........just for playing softball.
