"I'm Your Man" -- Leonard Cohen. There aren't any good videos of him performing since cigarettes have pretty much ruined the man's voice but the song itself stands up.

Is this mercy-killing or cross-pollenation?

Cohen songs have been re-recorded by a number of different acts but I don't think anyone has done a cover of this one -- although Google will probably prove me wrong.
