Congratualations and Special thanks to Coach Wach and Coach Wimbo. They have been such a great infuence on my son and I will always be grateful for their presence in his life. Coach Wimberly visited Ohio multiple times and not only shared but demonstrated why Liberty was such a special place. Coach Wach pushes for and demands the best and you understand the importance of that process once you deliver your best. His professionalism, integrity, and toughness will be missed. I look forward to following these men as they move forward in their careers.

ok- who moves up?

Guess we'll see if Coach can reload his staff as well as his team! I'm confident LU can be a destination of choice for talented coaches at this level.

I know he's young, well- anyone NOT 50 seems young for a coach (to me), but whats the word on Streeter?

Can he step up from the QBs or is he not ready yet? I believe thats been his specialty since Clemson, but don't know much about him

Its been a whale of a staff for the last few years and its really shocking that nobody had moved up sooner... I am sure there will be some interesting changes here in the next few days and weeks to come...

After the meeting the boys had last night with Rocco, Mike told me that Coach Wilt is going to UVa.

Whoa! These losses are not insignificant. Does everybody whose name begins with 'W' have to leave?

I like the way you think. And he already has the line on his resume.

From the Roanoke fishwrap ...
Doug Doughty wrote:Cavaliers target Liberty aide

The Virginia-to-Liberty pipeline might soon go both ways.

Chad Wilt, a 30-year-old assistant football coach at Liberty, could be headed back to Charlottesville as Virginia's new defensive line coach.
And here is the timeline ...
Negotiations could be completed by the start of next week, sources said.

I hate to be pessimistic, but this could be the sign or start of some bigger problem or issue.

Go ahead, chew me out.

I'm sure Rocco was not surprised with these developments. I think we will be ok with what happens this season. Hopefully Bentley doesn't get hired here.

Really? I'm pretty sure it speaks volumes for our program as a whole. Coaches going to UVA(ACC) BuFF(MAC) and NFL? thats a sign of something bad? I don't think so. I'm sure there will be quality coaches coming in that will step up and do just as good a job as these guys did.

That's pretty much dumb. The first words out of the mouth of those coaches leaving were how thankful they were for Coach Rocco. They reminded the team how great of a head coach they have in Coach Rocco.

Coach Rocco was very supportive of these moves. Sure, you hate to lose guys like this but you love it for those guys. Coach Wilt and Wimberly are both very young coaches and now have phenomenal jobs. Both will be defensive coordinators at some point and it wouldn't surprise me if either one became a head coach. Coach Wachenheim is moving into professional football. There are head coaches in FCS football who have left to take position coaches in the NFL. That's how prestigious the NFL is.

The fact that we kept this staff as a whole together for three years is nearly unprecedented. You generally have 1-2 coaches leave every year. We have had coaches turn down jobs at other schools year in and year out because they wanted to stay here. At some point an offer is too good to refuse.

I'm going to miss these guys. I loved working for them and with them. I started out under Coach Wimberly two years ago. I did my internship with him and Danny Rocco Football Camp. They're all three great men that we're losing, not just great coaches.

With that being said, everyone is replaceable, even Coach Rocco. I trust him to make the right decisions. Liberty football is nowhere near the job it was three years ago when he first came here. No longer do we have to go out and convince people to come here. We have people inquiring from everywhere about these jobs.

I wish Wach, Wimbo, and Wilt the best. I know they'll be successful wherever they go.

That was my hint a few hours ago... I am very happy for Wilt, he has worked hard for this spot and hands down was my favorite coach to work with... I told him the other day that I can't believe I am going to be wearing some Orange now...

The Roanoke story about Wilt makes me wonder if Rocco and Groh will trade jobs in a year or two!
It seems as if LU might become a place that players AND coaches see as a great place to stop and get ready for the next level.

:rofl

not gonna happen but..... I think he'd make a good offensive coordinator. If his ego could take not being the head guy. And we hired some type of liaison to follow him around and make sure he's not violating NCAA rules.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
