Lynchburg teen dies in ice-related crashhttp://www.newsadvance.com/lna/news/loc ... ash/12926/

A Lynchburg teenager died after the car she was riding in hit a patch of ice late Wednesday and ran off the road in Forest.
Mariah Lynn Pitts, 15, died at Lynchburg General Hospital shortly after the crash, said Sgt. Bob Carpentieri of the Virginia State Police.
Pitts was riding in a 1983 Chevrolet pickup driven by Mark Wayne Crank Jr., 21, of Goode. Crank was driving on Virginia 708 when he hit a patch of ice and ran off the right side of the road at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The truck hit a utility pole, then went down an embankment and into a creek. Virginia 708 is about two miles west of the Thomas Jefferson Road intersection with U.S. 460.
Pitts was not wearing her seatbelt, Carpentieri said. She was transported to the hospital but died a short time later.
Carpentieri had no information on Crank’s condition. The wreck remains under investigation.
