Seth needs 31 points to pass Omar Carter for a Big South Conference record for freshman scoring. The Big South freshman record for 3 pointers made is 85 set by Jack Leasure; Seth needs 20 3’s to break that record. Also, no freshman in Big South history has ever averaged 20 ppg or more.

Charlotte Observer wrote:Speaking of scorers, Liberty freshman Seth Curry, Stephen's younger brother, is averaging 20.7 points, second in the Big South and tops among all freshman in the nation. He is on pace to be the first Big South freshman to average more than 20 points for the season. That would best the 19-year-old freshman scoring average record (18.1) set by Coastal Carolina's Tony Dunkin. Curry is also 32 points from breaking the Big South freshman points mark of 466. That was set last season by Charleston Southern's Omar Carter, Curry's prep teammate at Charlotte Christian High.

so he should get the scoring mark next game, right?

by my count- he only needs 13 or 14.

Impressive- he oughta shatter that record by 100 or more

I don't know what the Freshman record is off the top of my head, but I know that Beasly last year and Durant the year before scored at a much higher pace than Seth has. In the 25-26 ppg range.

He won't come close to touching the NCAA numbers. He has 451 points as of today. We would have to make a run to the Final Four with Seth scoring 30+ to come close.

Edit: After running the numbers, Seth would have to average over 32 ppg if we made it all the way to the Final Four to break the NCAA record. I like to drink the :koolaid but that ain't happening.

Jason Conley. Saw him play at the Vines. He led the nation in scoring as a Freshman at VMI, and they were playing up tempo, but nothing like the way they play now.

So Sophomoric. I love it! These records would be a lot different if Pistol Pete, Chamberlin, Russell, Alcindor and Walton were allowed to play as Freshmen.

Yes, folks...that was the ACTUAL CHEER back in the day.

...and if Maravich had the 3 points shot. I bet he'd have averaged near 50 for a career.

It appears Mr. Mid-Majority isn't a full believer in Seth quite yet ...

Speaking of that Liberty-High Point game, freshman guard Seth Curry (who has a famous brother, you know) reached a milestone. In his 22nd game as a Flame, he earned his first double-double: 18 points and 10 rebounds. He stands 6-3, but that is what is generally referred to as a "big boy" dub-squared. And he now has just one fewer of those than this guy.

Stephen's first collegiate double-double was on Dec. 18, 2006 at Chattanooga, a 30-point, 11-rebound effort that inspired his first national website piece to be written. His second came at home against Georgia Southern early in his sophomore year, when Flash scored 24 and grabbed 10 rebounds. This year, he's collected three of the guard's variety, the kind with points and assists.

It's unlikely that Seth will ever scale the heights of notoriety that Stephen has, even though national TV crews regularly descending on Lynchburg, Va. would be fun and fantastic. We maintain that Curry the younger's legacy will match that of Eddie Bird -- immensely talented, and eventually content in civilian life, knowing that any rec league he joins will force him to play with a hand tied behind his back. But it's still kinda cool that they're both shooting exactly 38.5 percent from 3 this year. Those have got to be some intense HORSE games in the driveway.
