Just got home. I don't even know what to say. I hate hate hate saying things about officiating but they've really left me no choice. So, I just won't say anything. I won't say anything about Radford's patented new headlock defense. Or BS OT intentional fouls. I'll just leave that out of it for right now. I thought about pulling a PC move and getting in that refs face on the court. I'm gonna have to stop bringing my daughter to games or she's going to think I'm a rage-aholic.

On another note, it seemed like between regulation and OT we had like 20 chances to win it.

We did indeed.

Were the Zooperstars any consolation tonight?

You should've heard Coach McKay biting his tongue to avoid giving KK anything to hang him with regarding the referees.

There were two times for sure where some sort of foul should have been called.

1. I think it was Smitty going baseline (or Sanders I forget who) and they basically were slung along the baseline and they called it Radford ball out of bounds.
2. Seth had a chance at the end of regulation and he went up for a layup and I thought for sure there was some contact as he went up (of course he missed the layup)

We got a bonus zooperstar skit as Tiger Woodchuck came out to entertain us while the lights warmed back up. Their main performance was the same as last years so it lost some luster, but their other stuff is gold. But I would rather have the zooperstars thrown into a vat of acid never to perform again than have been a part of that outcome.

Had the chances. Tough loss at home. Kyle seemed like he forced a few too many tonight. Rebounds hurt as well

Well... Liberty played hard but I have to say, our lack of experience coming off the bench really hurt us. Radford just keyed on Curry and Smith in that 2 OT. Neither got any good looks and forced a lot of shots. Baker needs to get some confidence in his 3 pt shot. He had some open looks early passed on them, and late when he did shoot, he wasn't close. I think that will come with some more playing time.

With that all being said, Liberty still played hard and gave it their best shot. I saw a post about the refs. They don't make the shots, regardless of some bad calls we had our chance and didn't come through tonight. Sorry played sports all my life and it is a pet peeve of mine to blame the refs.

This will be a good learning experience for the freshmen and come tourney time in the Big South we will be ready. I really like what I saw overall. I think we are going to make a run here and win our next 6 or 7 in a row. Go LU!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :frustrated :banghead

Ive said so many cuss words tonight that if I was Catholic Id be in Confession for a week. Those Refs were TERRIBLE... TERRIBLE!!!! I cant even think straight Im so mad. Maybe Ill talk more about it later but we were tired and Curry went through the OTs scoreless, and that hurt too. I dont think Kyle forced too much, I thought he played well. I feel like there were some shots we should have hit but other than that we played a great game and we played the way we wanted to, It just sucks when you have to play 5 on 8... But that just shows that we go to Double OT with Radford when we are getting Screwed... So how great would we be if we arent being bent over by the officials. Well Coached game on both sides and Ritchie did a great job of holding his tounge since he got in trouble last year, but I wont, Ill talk for him... It was BS and Im calling the Big South and the NCAA tomorrow, I just hope it doesnt burn when they pee tomorrow since they spent some time servicing Radfurd tonight. And Im working on a special gift for at Radfurd, Dont worry ;)

I was so ticked at one point I caught myself from throwing my pom pom. Props on the Lunatics getting my side of the crowd to chant. We need to figure a way to communicate that in the future.

Nasty!!!!

I figured that we would go with a drive by Ant or Seth in those last seconds of the 1st OT- at least a 66% chance of a win. I was worried about a second OT, and rightfully so. I only got to catch the OT segments, but I'm glad I wasn't present in the stands as I only had to make a fool of myself in my own home.

Lang weighs in...
It was easy to see in Seth Curry’s shot. The elevation disappeared. The high arc flattened. By the time the second overtime started Saturday night at the Vines Center, Liberty’s freshman standout was gassed.

He wasn’t the only one, but there was one key difference in the styles Radford and Liberty play. The Highlanders get most of their shots in the paint. Liberty — especially when facing a team with the two best post players in the league — is a jump-shooting team. And dead legs usually affect the latter more.

Best part of the night was the two-side back and forth L-U chant after Brolin got tackled. That was undoubtedly a 15 yarder and that wasn't the first time Lynch-Flohr should've been called for a 15 yarder. Also, Brolin, even after the tackle never came near being out of bounds. But im not gonna go there. Our guys fought their tails off, it was just too much to overcame.

I hate to attack a guy, but i'm leaving on this note, only thing i'm gonna say. Lynch-Flohr, good player, but he's flatout a punk, a flatout punk, he dropped guys with flagrant elbows all night and what happened on the baseline with Brolin was bush league. That was ejection worthy and a foul wasn't even called, awful.

ehh i know youre upset but thats going a little far. joey is far from a punk, just because he plays physical doesnt make him dirty. as a post player you are supposed to make space using your elbows, everybody does that. he wasnt headhunting, that kid he knocked to the ground was behind him, he didnt even see him. watch the headlock play again, i agree it was a foul and brolin didnt step out of bounds, but joey was going for the ball. brolin tried to manuever away while joey was still on the ball and he ended up between joeys arms. joey didnt let go and ended up having brolin in a headlock and twisting him to the ground.

Why in the world your #1 continued to talk to Curry is beyond me...he started and Curry peeled off 6 straight points, finally he stopped and they went back to zone but I wish he could have talked to him a little more...we might have won!

They had a back and forth for a while...and Curry finally hit like his 30th point and I think he finally gave up...that wouldnt be the person I'd want to talk trash to...I'd pick someone on the bench! Very ambitious though!

Yeah I think Joey is a good kid, He just plays tough a physical. Nothing Dirty about it, I bet he would have even called the foul on himself on that one haha He is a good kid and a good player from what I know, He cant help it, He plays the post well.

I'm standing by my statement that he was thuggish in the paint, and I understand that a lot of guys are, you gotta be physical down there. There are even times tonight when Ohman was a little thuggish in there, it is what is. I mean him and Joey went at it all night. I will back off and say that I think at times tonight he was more physical than normal and a little over the top and a lot of that has to do with the fact he got away with it and the officials lost control of that game. I understand what your saying about him and Floyd getting tangled up too, but it's not like they tangled up and went down. It was a little too physical and it should have been a flagrant, especially if Curry's grab was intentional. He may have gone for the ball, but he had every intention of putting Brolin on the floor, there was no way he was gonna let him get a shot up. Also there's a difference between clearing space with wide elbows, and swinging. Your allowed to clear space, but you can't swing and he swung a lot tonight and swung with intention or so it seemed.

Either way, that was a great game, I hate we came out on the short end and i'd love to have seen some things go differently, but they didn't. The officiating was bad all night, it just happened to be real bad towards us late in the game and that's tough to swallow. But it is what it is and like i said you can't ask for much more in a college game. You had a guard oriented team doing what it does well and an inside team doing what they do. Neither could style could really trump the other, each team played to their strengths and it was fun.

And to straighten the record I in no way was implying he is a punk, as a person. It was my opinion, that he was very, very physical tonight and at times to physical for my taste. I felt at times his play was punkish, but not him, just his play.

Zebras tonight made some bad calls, but we still played poorly. Dropped passes under the basket, Floyd a couple of times. Bad rebounding and we played a token press. I was disappointed we did not press more. With a five guard offense, I would want to make Radford get into a running game. I would have pressed especially in the 2nd half after every shot including free throws, just to get them running. My 2 cents worth.

a disappointing end to an electric night at the vines. what a great crowd. the decibel level at the end of regulation was crazy after the radford miss. yes the officiating was questionable. i think KK thought so to when he kept seeing the WWE-style takedown on brolin on the big screen and shaking his head. Despite that we had opportunities to win and could not get it done. a few observations:

1. the importance of jesse sanders- after he fouled out, seth goes to point, thus tougher for him to create.
2. we need bigs who can play. RU's size was to much in the end. we were out rebounded 57-42.
3. we need better bench play. im not a coach but tyler baker would have played more for defensive purposes. when he was in, he was effective against the RU bigs. offensively.....NO!!! tyler what happened to your shot.

it was a game that left me drained emotionally, but we need to snap back tuesday against high point.

Smoothy, I have to agree that it was good to see Baker battling inside with Radford's bigs on defense in the OT, but I was wondering what happened to Austin Smith? If the refs aren't calling fouls in the block, that should have been Austin time for us: he doesn't have much weight yet, but he really tries to play physical when he's in.

TB's confidence is shot (and probably should be considering all of the freak injuries). There were a few times when he had a wide open shot, with time for him to setup and he passed it up.

We did a better job in the second half but we just got pushed around too much. The bulldog/headlock by Lynch-Flohr was inexcusible...Brolin clearly did not go out of bounds.
