Brooke Hedrick, the investigator who posed undercover, said at a September hearing that Rose wasn’t a target of her investigation, but in late April, as she was headed to her car after class, he asked her in the parking lot if she was looking for drugs.
What an idiot.

Amherst Co., VA - A guilty verdict for former Amherst County High School football standout Peter Rose. Rose went on trial on drug charges Wednesday morning. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of distributing less than a half ounce of marijuana. But he pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of distributing marijuana within 1000 feet of school. The judge found Rose guilty on both. An investigator testified Rose told him he did it because he wanted to buy better food than he was eating at home, mayonnaise and mustard sandwiches.

No...the others were not and they were known to be the ones you could go to...this kid was badgered every day by an undercover until he finally gave in...this is what the students say...they all say the others were guilty and this kid was simply asked over and over until he figured why not

Hey, if you ask me enough times I'll find something for you too! Quick money you didnt even work for...he's a kid, few wouldnt do that when we all know people you can call to set it up within 5 minutes.

If he had it to sell to the undercover...it probably means he has sold it to others as well. Of course there is always the possession charge as well...

Maybe so...but word from some teachers I know there, and students say he was asked every day for a while (while they were building a case against other students) and finally he said yeah I'll get you some

But thats just what I heard...who knows...I just know they are not throwing him under the bus out there saying "what a bozo" but rather being quite angry with the police

Wow. So we're now justifying kids giving into peer pressure and selling drugs because they're asked to do it everyday? You're even saying you would do it to make a quick buck? I don't care how broke I was, I wouldn't touch that crap with a ten foot pole.

Who cares what the circumstances leading up to him making the sale were. The fact is he still made the sale. He deserves the punishment.

I just dont think a cop should ask a kid repeatedly to do something illegal....if he says no...let it go

No but i know someone who's looking for one...let me call him <---just broke the law

SJ...it is the cop's job to seek out what they can find but there is a line that they can cross

Did the cop cross the line? Probably.

Do I think that changes anything? Not at all.

Kid broke the law. He committed felonies. This wasn't just a possession charge. He was selling things. He wasn't even smart enough to cover his butt by telling the cop, "Hey, I'm not getting involved with this, but if you talk to that guy he may be able to help."

no, I agree he deserves what he was charged with...b/c he did break the law...let's just not provoke anyone to break the law

It's like a bar fight, if you get in someone's face and start something, he hits you...sure he should get in trouble...but you're to blame as well

You're to blame but you really didn't break the law unless you consider it verbal assault and then you're just a baby.

point is just dont provoke...say your peace and be done (or ask if someone has drugs and be done)

I can agree with don't provoke, but would you say that another good rule would be if provoked, don't give in to peer pressure?

I'm sorry but this whole concept of "provoking" is crap, people. Is it now the job of the police to first make sure that you're not a moron before running a sting? Dude made a stupid choice of his own free will. It's a simple three-step process to staying out of jail:
  • 1. Don't possess drugs.
    2. Don't sell drugs.
    3. Don't facilitate the sale of drugs.
You remember that and the rest is gravy.

If the police office provoked the kid then I think that would have fallen under entrapment, which it didnt or the case would have been tossed. Plain and simple. Stupid kid

Amherst Co., VA - A former Amherst County football star will spend 15 days in jail for dealing drugs. A judge handed down the sentence for Peter Rose this afternoon. Rose was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of distributing marijuana, and two felony counts of distributing marijuana within 1,000 feet of school back in January.

As you recall, Rose was among several students busted last May after an undercover officer spent a year posing as a student, and making drug buys. Stay with ABC-13 for the latest.

100% agree. Why waste our $ and put on a big hoopdedoo trial only to let the guy off with 15 days!

Don't be shocked though if he ends up in an LU uniform soon. I'm just saying!
