VirginiaPreps.com wrote:JONES GROWING INTO D-1 PROSPECT
Liberty Christian Academy has another huge lineman on the way. Many of our readers will recall Bobby Massie who played at the Lynchburg school last year and is now at Hargrave Military Academy. Massie is 6-foot-8, 330+ pounds.
LCA now has Grant Jones, a 6-foot-6, 275 pound offensive tackle! Just a junior, Jones still may have some growing to do, as he is already up to a size 16 shoe!
Jones was a starter last year as a sophomore for LCA, starting all 12 games for a team that won the state title. Jones also wrestled in the heavyweight division for LCA, and finished last season ranked #7 in the state. Jones is also an excellent student with a 3.2 grade-point-average.
This year he and the Bulldog team have started strong again, as they are currently undefeated and pointing towards another state championship.
A number of Division 1 schools are already showing interest, including Georgia Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Marshall, West Virginia, N.C. State, North Carolina and Ohio State. When asked about 'favorites' Jones told VirginiaPreps.com; "The schools I like the most, right now, are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Liberty Universityand the University of Virginia." When asked to name some of his favorite football players, Jones responded "A few of my favorite pro players would be Jonathan Ogden and Jason Peters, college would be Eugene Monroe, Sam Young and Andrew Gardner."
We asked Jones what his personal and team goals were for the remainder of the season, "I would like to keep improving in my strength and speed throughout the remainder of the season and I also would like to keep improving my footwork and technique. Our main goals as a team are to grow spiritually and academically, and our last goal is to finish the season undefeated hopefully with the state title."
Jones told us about the camps he attended last spring: "I went to the Penn State camp which was just an awesome camp, I really enjoyed the campus and the background of great football playing at the University, I also got to go head to head with some great players and I always love a challenge. I also attended the Liberty University camp which I really liked because I got to know the coaching staff. Also I really appreciated the Christian environment."
VirginiaPreps.com caught up with LCA football coach Frank Rocco, who offered the following comments about Jones: "He that has improved greatly over the year. His strength has gotten much better and has put him in a position where with another good off season he can be a recruitable offensive lineman. He has been a two-year starter for us."
Other juniors to watch at Liberty Christian include: Michael Rocco (quarterback), Scott Hyland (tight-end, linebacker), Desmond Rice (running back, wide receiver), and Demetrius Chapman (lineman).
I don't know much about his current recruitment. Of course he still has another year at LCA. I like to see some of the better home grown guys stay in the Liberty family. His dad was a old time Liberty lineman back in the day (late 70's or early 80's?) I saw Jones play several times this year. He's big and uses decent technique. Seems to be well coached. Fairly strong, but needs to improve his quickness a bit. Apparently he is working on that. I heard he is ranked as one of the top 5 heavyweight wrestlers in the state right now. With still a year to go in High School there is a lot of upside....especialy if he continues to develop .... which I am sure he will under Frank Rocco at LCA
Which Ray Jones? There's another pretty good football player at LCA named Ray Jones. Of course the guy on the TV broadcasts is a Ray Jones and the LU student who does all the theater is Ray Jones.
The guy who does LU theater one...this has to be his son

I think the Ray Jones everyone is talking about here (the theater one) was in the VIrginia Christmas Spectacular. they did one of the scenes from that one Sunday morning and he is a pretty fair singer too

Let's be clear on this. NO ONE is talking about the Ray Jones who's in theater!

Im also hoping to put together a good team of knowledgeable financial advisors. We can work with the PC administration to formulate a proper compensation plan for everyone as I know the school is under a lot of stress in that particular area.

I'm getting paid with the proceeds from renting out the president's house.
From the PC board:
For what it's worth...JVG moved out of the President's House over the winter holidays. Mr. and Mrs. purchased a home just outside of town. The President's House will now be used as a rental space for parties, functions, etc.

HEY HEY HEY....nobody dared ask Frank Lucas where his money came from....you cant either! Just enjoy the benefits as BJ progresses through the food chain
and BJ is right between Jdub (who is a constantly fudges numbers daily) and Bryson we will have a ton to work with...we may help pay off Obama's 54 Trillion dollar's needed to do everything he wants.

Ray Jones is the TV play-by-play man for LU MBB, WBB and Volleyball on the Flames Sports Network hurricanefan. His brother Roy was an outstanding heavyweight wrestler at LU back in the early days. I assume Grant is Roy's son.
Apparently Grant was at the spring game and had a chance to talk to one of our coaches and came away with a very good impression. That bodes well for our chances.
