If we're staring at 1-7 or 1-8 in conference at the beginning of next year, we can start to point fingers.
We finished the regular season 3-5 last year and are 1-3 to start this season so 4-8 is acceptable and called progress?? Probably not enough talent or the league is alot tougher than Marshall. Reboul, Platt and Peterson.

But let's not dwell on the past, the inconsistencies and biases have been admitted. We are in the midst of an exciting run towards unprecedented success.

I'm sure 3-13 was progress, right?

I'm sure that finishing 2-2 including a first round home loss in the playoffs was progress, right?

Those were in RD's 4th and 5th years. So don't act like your boy was making a ton of progress. He regressed. Since it's obvious RD is your golden standard of measure, then let Ritchie get to that point. Ritchie started 7-7 in conference, RD started 8-6. That's a push. They each won a postseason game in their first year. Push. Let Ritchie finish off this year, which probably won't be as good as RD's second year, but can still be salvaged into something comparable... and then see if Ritchie continues to progress the team. RD hit a peak and then jumped off. Ritchie is still climbing.

I'm sure you can sit and have LU Loss Parties and wait for Ritchie to get to his 4th year, can't you?

If I am not mistaken RD finished 7-2 in year five and in third place. And I believe was less than a minute from being 9-0. So again it obviously needs to be discredited by you and those who wish to shower laudits on our grand start to conference play. Years two and three RD was 15-1 at home and 8-8 on the road. RD also left arguably the best post, pt guard and swing in the league last year that progressed from 3rd to 4th in RMK year one.

But hey its a new year with all kinds of games to be play and opinions generated. I trust we will go undefeated at home and win a couple of road games. We are all enthusiastic about the future. My point was and LUconn agreed that there is an inconsistent standard with the overall evaluation of performances.

He also said we will go 9-9 in conference. If we go undefeated at home that's 9 wins.

Just some other thoughts to get this back on the actual game:

We went through spurts where we played like we didn't care. No one moved on offense. Guys got lazy on defense. Then something would click, they'd play aggressive, and we'd go on a run.

Johnny and Brolin were our two best defenders last night in my opinion.

Anthony did very well playing against a bigger guy in the post on defense.

Tyler can't hit the ocean from the beach right now. I hope it's just a matter of getting his feet underneath him and getting back in a rhythm. I truly believe that's what it is. Even without his shot, he's putting in good times on defense for us and is making good decisions on offense for the most part.

I said my opinions of Kyle last night.

Austin wasn't good at all. He was very good at Winthrop but that's looking like it was a fluke right now. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Johnny is one of the fastest players with the ball I've ever seen.

Anthony has stepped his game up big time. He's playing like a POY.

I'm afraid Seth's body may break down a little bit if he keeps playing these minutes. He came out of the locker room last night with ice on his shin. He was also wearing something on both of his shins during the game that I have never seen him wear before.

We got away with a charge at the end of the game that, had they called it, would've completely negated the possibility of overtime.

At the end of the first overtime, when PC made the three and Seth came back to make the three to tie it, the refs went back to watch the tape to make sure both were threes. When watching the tape, one of the refs said that the PC shot was a two but then they went back and watched it a few more times and determined it was a three. We were about an inch or two away from not even going into the second OT.

I'll be glad to get back in the Vines on Saturday. We need both of these games. The way we've played on defense scares me when you look at Jamarco Warren and Omar Carter, especially Warren.

Just read this. He hasn't played too well the past two games. It also seems as though his minutes have been cut a little bit because of it. He's playing 7.25 less minutes the last four games than the six to start the year (only counting Division I games).

I don't blame SJ for asking Kyle to step up with his attitude, and the biggest problem with the program might be the lack of a good big man. Other than that, as I said before, those two losses, by themselves, don't mean a whole lot, especially considering that we could have won them both. And I remain impressed with what seemed to be (on the radio) some huge offensive rebounds at critical times.

There's no reason for anything close to panic at this point.

SJ is right on here. It is a long season especially on a freshman logging major minutes and responsibility.

He's tough. He'll be OK.

I will say this though, this team really could really use a Jeremy Anderson.

I'm gonna say this with the intention to get you guys to think and not to stir the pot.

I think you guys are putting too much pressure on seth to be the leading scorer of this team and be the messiah that his brother is to Davidson. I know we all hate hearing about his brother and the comparisons but i think subconsciously since we all know he's got the talent. that we want to see it right now and that he needs to be the leading scorer. He's already seeing more minutes than most freshman should and he's coming in with the added pressure of being this superstar like is dad and brother. Ant should be our leading scorer every night as pre-season POY. guys like seth and KO should compliment that scoring and step up if Ant has an off night but should not be relied on as freshman to carry the load of the work for the team. thats just my 2 cents.

Here's the thing: It's not us putting that pressure on him. It's Coach McKay and Seth.

I thought exactly the same thing when I heard coach say that opponents were backing off of Brolin and Jesse to focus on Ant, Seth and Kyle. Jeremy would have a field day with that. For now, the guys we have need to make themselves more of a threat.

Yeah, I'm putting all the pressure on Ant to be our leading scorer and POY...and being a Senor he should be able to handle it...and it looks like he's starting to

Also: Let's not forget that Kyle was just like JA at one time before he got all that shnazzy new offense...we need him to spot up and shoot like the old days

I think the best way to describe us in a game is consistently inconsistent. The talent is there. it just comes in flashes of brilliance. I can't wait to see what this team does in the next 2 or 3 years. and if we get in groove by tourney time we could scare some people. But i think thats the general opinion of everyone. I'm not going to give up on these guys and it certainly isn't a time to panic.
