About 4 minutes left and VMI is losing by 7 at home against Richmond. Still, I've been impressed by VMI's full court press, their rebounding, and their coach's sweater vest. I hope LU can beat VMI's trapping full court press.

VMI comes from behind and beats Richmond 73-70. It's not quite the ACC, but at least VMI beat a CAA school. :clapping

No Richmond is a Atlantic 10 school. A-10 bigger than CAA

I guess it depends on your definition of "scary good." Sure they've had a good start of the season, but not much better than ours. Beating Richmond is a good win, but not that good. Richmond wouldn't win the CAA.

They won at Kentucky. We won at UVA.
They beat Richmond at home. We beat George Mason at home.
They have 3 non-D1 wins. We have 3 non-D1 wins.
The only thing they have done which we didn't was win at Asheville.

Sure they are probably the team to beat for the conference right now, but I don't think I'd call them "scary good."

True--and referencing that loss still hurts. :frustrated

How close of a comparison is that?

Either way, youre both saying the same thing. VMI will be very tough to beat.

Actually pretty close. George Mason was ahead the entire game against Dayton (12-1 and one of the favorites to win the A-10) before eventually losing 66-62.

We have won 4 nons. Montreat, Coker, Anderson, Cinn Christian. VMI is good though. I have seen them in person and they have a ton of weapons. Liberty is good too though. I really hope it comes down to these 2 because they are my 2 favorite teams in the conference. I can't wait to get back down to Lexington and watch them play...This weekend though I am very much looking forward to the Winthrop game.

VMI has beaten Richmond 2 of the last 3 seasons. They lost a close one last season in Richmond. I watched the Mason/Dayton game. Mason is good and they should have won that one. Dayton is a top Atlantic 10 team too.

You realize you just made my point for me, right?

They're a good team. The game I saw them play they played a crappy first half and were tied at halftime (or only up a few). Next thing I know, four minutes into the second half they're up 20.

LU and Vmi have 2 common opponents. UVA and UNCA. We beat UVA at UVA. VMI lost at UVA by 10. but we got pasted by UNCA. and VMI beat UNCA by 9. My point is just like everyone else's we are going to have a tough time with VMI regardless. On any given day anyone can beat anyone on any court.

I wasn't trying to disprove or prove it. I was trying to understand your definition of "scary good." By my definition, VMI is not "scary good." Yes they are a good team, but they can be beat on any given night.

But they are a scary team. There aren't many of those in the Big South this year. VMI is the only one that truly scares me.

I was at the game and VMI does look very good on both ends of the floor. I will say the officials helped VMI out a bit in that game though...especially with the carry call at the very end of the game. I really wanted VMI to win to help the Big South look good but I hated that call at the end of the game. The LU / VMI game is going to be a very good one and I cant wait to see it...I will be in Lexington for this one is any one else going to be there?

I will say that UNCA kinda scares me too. Just because they beat us so bad the first time. I know we are a different team now and that the next time we play them will be in the Vine's Center, but that 28 point shellacking will be in the back of our guy's heads and hopefully it will motivate them to blow them out, but it may, just may, scare them enough to get blown out again... That's the only reason they scare me. Other than that, Radford scares me. They are pretty good and have a good inside game.

I think its probably a safe bet that the winner of the Big South this year will be from the state of VA...

Radford scares me on the road, especially if the Dedmon Center isn't finished. At home, I think we take them. They turn the ball over too much.
