Assistant Football Coach John Davis has been chosen by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in cooperation with the Black Coaches and Administrators organization and the National Football League to attend the 2009 Future Coaches Academy in Nashville, Tenn., January 11 and 12. Only 30 new and future college coaches were chosen to attend this prestigious event.

Coach Davis, who is a graduate of Liberty University where he played football from 2001 to 2004, has just finished a successful first year at Gallaudet. He was in charge of coaching the team’s defensive backs and directing the football academic monitoring program. Under Davis's guidance, the defensive secondary improved their run support and discipline with pass coverage. The secondary finished the 2008 season with 11 interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles. Coach Davis also worked closely with freshman defensive back Jared Vollmar, who finished 16th in the nation in solo tackles.
