The most successful program on Liberty Mountain deserves its own forum. We give Coach Green and the Lady Flames their props while breaking down their run to the Big Dance once again.

wow- this could totally shake up things. this is crazy. this could be a good thing. how does NCAA regulations work out with this? if Nelson is to play, and if she was good enough, could she play even next year? or does the 4 year elgibility rule still apply?

You have 5 years from the time you begin participation to compete in any sport. During that 5 years you cannot compete more than 4 in any one sport. Jessica is a redshirt senior, so this is her 5th year, and she has played vollyball 4. 6th years are only granted in extreme medical cases where the athlete misses most or all of 2 seperate seasons with injuries. Stephen Sene got one. Tyler Baker would probably qualify. Jesse could play BB (or softball, or any other sport for that matter) this winter or spring, but not next year.

Since we are talking about the lack of healthy bodies on our WBB team, does anyone have any information on if or when any of our injured players may return? I'm assuming no news is bad news on Brittany's knee, and apparently Megan's ankle was worse than originally thought. I wouldn't count on Molly coming back from her August ACL tear, but Rebecca has had almost 10 months now. Has she had setbacks in her rehab?

Saw her team play (though not her) this past summer. Not much talent there, so I'd be surprised if there's a lot in her.

Jess Nelson would be a nice addition - a body who would actually bring a little something to the table. Incidentally, the redshirt year came bc of a disgusting injury in an LU IMS bball game. She can play a little, though.

It is Nelson. She'll be wearing #4. Didn't she lose a voilleyball year because she hurt herself playing intermural basketball?

yes...broke her leg if I remember correctly. Also I think her injury was a major impetus with the changes in rules about intercollegiate athletes playing intramural sports (Someone more in the know feel free to correct me if Im wrong

Its still up to the individual sport, but its my understanding all the sports have that rule in place...along with no skiing, snowboarding, or anything that significantly increases the chance of bad injuries.
