The ladies did us all proud. The Selection Committee, not so much.

I have a feeling Nebraska is glad to survive this 16th seed.

The first match of the day was UAB vs Missouri State. MS was the fourth seed going into their conf tourney, and they managed to pull out the conf tourney victory. They drew UAB in the same venue that we drew Nebraska. Hello seeding committee ...... what planet are you from? Watching the first match was painful, because we knew that we should have been playing in that match. If so, we would still be playing on Saturday. UAB won, but did not look anything like our caliber. We didn't play poorly in set 1, NU just played lights out. The atmosphere was electrifying, the crowd was larger than any we had seen before. They were loud, but really showed respect for our team. Set 2, we took them out of their rhythm and they started making mistakes, and just couldn't get it back together. KB was great. Our girls showed lots of poise in holding off their runs. You could tell the crowd was anxious as we maintained the lead. Their cheering would get louder as we prepared between each point. Sets 3 and 4 were hard fought, with lots of good rallies that, unfortunately, NU won more of. The play was, for the most part, stellar on both sides of the net. Nicki face-planted one on Jordan that got the attention of the crowd.

The NU fans searched us out after the game to compliment the team and to say that we were seeded way too low. One fan said that we would definitely be in the top half of the Big 12 if we played in that conference. He also said that Kallie was the best setter he had seen all season. We are glad that we came to see the match in person, and proud to be associated with such a great group of ladies who represent their school and their Lord so well.

Just to note: When I talked to Pinder, he was told that the tournament's top 16 teams were seeded, and then after that, basically, everyone was put in a hat and drawn. Too bad it's not like the NCAA hoops tourneys, where the top 16 and BOTTOM 16 are seeded. I don't think LU would have been in that bottom 16 had that been the case.

Yeah I can't say I have ever been happy with any selectin committee where Liberty has been involved. From The football team this year to the year womans bball went undefeated and played overall #1 seed, baseball in the top 50 of the country and getting to play South Carolina that year.Don't get me started. Anyway sounds like a good trip for the ladies to build on.

a great season by the ladies and coach pinder. it is indeed a shame how the selection process is, but it takes nothing away from a great season.

Nebraska just lost in the semifinals; a 5 set thriller against undefeated Penn State. Penn State had not previously dropped a SET all year................111 straight. Possibly one of the most dominant college teams ever, in any sport. They play Stanford in the final.

Do LU students and fans know we hung with Nebraska? Do you think the average LU fan saw the game between Penn State and Nebraska last night and said, "Wow, our team took a set of Nebraska, and came very close on a second set."

We are now playing at a very high level, and I see us taking some giants down next season.

I believe the volleyball program has a better chance of being a national power than any other sport at LU. It could be the "signature" sport for the athletic department.

If and I said "IF" the AD put a focus on volleyball, and students attended games, and crazy volleyball fans came up with cheers and yells after points (like Nebraska has), the volleyball world would notice. FYI the volleyball world is amazed at 4,300 fans in Lincoln, NE. Think what people would say if LU had 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 fans in attendance! It would get attention!

We are going to have a great team in 2009... I hope students and fans show up to help build the program.

Go Liberty!

I know i am a few weeks late but that game was a great one to watch. The fifth set when Nebraska had the lead in that game and then my cable went out and I was mad! I had to call a friend of mine to keep me updated on the game. I thought Nebraska was going to take down Penn State.

The poor guy didn’t make it very long. :)
