Paradox you brought a great point and the issue of repentance having a time period isn't even relative. The biggest reason we are pursuing him is because the coaches have recieved the ok from his former coaches. They know him best and know his character they are obviously sorry that the situation escalated to where the university forced them to take action. Everyone that has talked about him has spoken highly of him and thats why in my mind its not a risk to pick him up. Its not like he has a record of irresponsibility or insubordination, the guy made a mistake at the worst possible time and the university had to stand up and appease all the super sensitive Liberals and force the guy off the team.

I'm fairly certain that I remember Coach Rocco working on the same staff at Texas as Mack Brown's current righthand man. So I am sure our staff has no problems checking up on Buck.

I've had some media guys tell me that at least in their interaction with him they never saw anything to indicate a problem prior to or after the Facebook incident.

Football probibly wouldn't have a big loud announcement on this one. So, if it happens when might we hear about it? I wouldn't think we would get a whiff till he registers or shows up for classes? Right?

Ok then, so where does he go from here? Does get more involved with helping inner-city youth? What have you been hearing?

Also, what can he do to show that he actually values people and doesn't think legitimate civil rights and the history of black people in this country is some kind of joke.

You do realize he was questioned pretty intensely by our spiritual life coordinator, who happens to be black, when he was here, right?

I'm just interested to know if Robbed knows anything, from the inside, regarding the restoration of this guy's public image.

Sometimes the most negative situations can develop into something positive, over time, if the person involved is completely sincere, genuinely wants to right a wrong, and the whole thing is handled correctly.

I'm starting to think you're the only person who has a problem with "the restoration of this guy's public image."

Usually I appreciate your enthusiasm for all things LU, but either this kid slept with your sister, you're actually Al Sharpton, or something else happened that none of us know about. You've been on a friggin' one month rant over someone you evidently don't even know.

How about you just let it go until we hear if the kid IS EVEN COMING HERE?

I can take reading a lot of crap on this board but you've really pushed the limit on this one with your self-righteous blathering.

My questions were really directed toward Robbed. He can PM me if he wants. I'd actually prefer it.

Don't blame you, I wouldn't want people to see what I was writing if it was as lame as your ranting either. Why don't you PM him and save us the drama? LOL!!!

Hey, I'll be glad to carry on a discussion about this in the public forum. These are legitimate issues and real concerns.

You're fooling yourselves if you don't think that this is controversial and a potential headache for the university.

So there is no room for an honest mistake, repentence, and reform?

I'm all for the forgiveness part. But talking about awarding a schoolship only weeks after the incident may not sit well with everyone.

Give it some time, and there will most likely be a better comfort level with this, particularly if his future actions match his apology, and he stands up for what's right.

He's a good guy and I don't think he is going to go around lynchburg healing the sick and giving sight to the blind mor that he needs to. This really is kind of ridiculous. The biggest thing he needs to worry about is getting along with teammates and being on good terms with them and he is here. Then I am sure he will fit in with the rest of the team in doing things like our "Flames feed a Family" where this year everyone on the team emptied their pockets to feed six poor families in our community for thanksgiving. I am finished with the Buck situation I have said my opinion and how about we start a thread about the Flames feed a Family or something great that our football team had done instead of squabbling over this recuit. Coach Rocco is a very wise man and he will make the right call. All I know is the Duke would sign him, aint that right rooster!!

Off the top of my head, Rocco and JB have been associated with the following institutions: Texas, Colorado, Penn State, UVa, Wake Forest and South Carolina. They also may have inside info on the guy from Rocco's days in Austin. I agree with Paradox that many liberal elitists are only looking for a headline and may try to use this against LU in future conference affiliations and scheduling, but if the school decides to go this route, I believe they have a pretty good understanding of the NCAA terrain and are also smart enough to know the ramifications. If they are ok with it, I say "darn the torpedoes" and let's win some ball games.

Maybe he could do a few hours of Christian/community service with LU's Young Democrats organization.

Better yet, let's just send him to rehab. That seems to be the most efficient means of redeeming someone's "public image" -- that is, if a single player in a team sport playing at the most anonymous position even has a "public image".
