Since many of us on here are LU sports junkies, why don't we make a list of things that we are thankful as it relates to LU athletics? I'll start us off with a few obvious ones.

I'm thankful...

1. That Doc persuaded Coach Rocco to leave UVa and become our head football coach.
2. That JB offered the head coaching position to Coach McKay (and he accepted).
3. That LU beat #12 ranked Elon on the last game of the season.
4. That LU beat my alma mater 86-82.
5. That Sly created this message board for so many of us to "invest" our spare time.

Everything Cider said, plus:

1. That McKay trekked down to little ol' Charlotte Christian School to find a diamond in the rough!
2. That Rashad decided to come home to spend more time with his father.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone - be safe!

We all think of the big names when doing this type of stuff, and I'm definitely thankful for them, but the more I work with athletics the more I'm thankful for other people, and they're the ones no one thinks about.

1) I'm thankful for our assistant coaches in football. For three years, they've all gotten other job offers and none of them have left. Some of the jobs were "better" than Liberty but they stayed to achieve the goals of this team. That's much bigger than people realize.

2) I'm thankful for team managers. The guys that work for football and basketball put in a ton of time and get no recognition for it. They are the ones that keep the teams going and do the dirty work.

3) I'm thankful for the GAs in athletics. Ryan, Allen, Doug, Dave, and Jamie do more than most realize and have been a great asset to our athletic department this year.

4) I'm thankful for our players. Many of them could've went somewhere other than Liberty with less rules, more exposure, and countless other things. Instead, they chose Liberty. If it wasn't for them, none of this other stuff would matter.

I am thankful people whose names are not to be spoken stepped up to make FlameFans what it is today (and I'm not referring to myself).

I am thankful our athletic department as a whole has a vision and direction that have taken it collectively to new heights.

I am thankful we are not the Liberty Eagles despite many attempts over the years.

I am thankful students have taken it on themselves to step up and create a game atmosphere that is fun and shows pride in their school.

I am thankful the BCS schools haven't discovered what an amazing coach we have running our football program.

I am thankful this senior class of football players was able to achieve 10 wins after starting with 10 losses.

I am thankful Josh McD struck up a friendship with a Kenyan kid from Fairleigh Dickinson.

Frankly, I could go on listing things all night. But I'll let somebody else continue ....

I agree with Jon on the managers. Ive met many of them and they are high class folks for sure:

Im thankful for the marching band. Yeah they've taken a lot of flack (some of it warranted) but they have continued to grow and I am glad I got to spend the last 6 years as a part of such an awesome group of young men and women

Im thankful for the LUnatics. If it wasnt for this group I really do not think that games would be as exciting for the fans as they have been the last couple years. I cant wait to spend games right in the middle of this superb group of peopke.

The poor guy didn’t make it very long. :)
