I can't believe how we've just been disrespected. I've been expecting all week to hear that it was a fluke and we really are in the playoffs. This is what every LU Alum has been waiting for for decades and now we get hosed. We have to win out next year and make everyone else look like straight chumps. This is a travesty and i hope heads role on the committe because of it. Had this decision been made in a BCS playoff alternate world... there would be riots!!!!! How do you get ranked 14th and not make a field of 14?????? Alright my rant is over....

Sir, as the head of the body that decides who plays in the NCAA FCS series playoffs you have decided not to include 14th ranked Liberty University, who just beat 12th ranked Elon who was beaten less decisively than Liberty by 2nd ranked App. St. a week earlier. You have blatantly chosen less qualified schools and have shown your prejudice against Liberty University and the Big South Conference. You should be ashamed and resign your position as head of that committee immediately.

Shevi, the discussions over the last spot in the field were very difficult. The committe spent over three hours in deliberation. The final choice was not unanimous. I am one vote of ten from representatives of all AQ elible conferences. If you think I ccontrol the group you are incorrect. We had five teams in contention all with a good case. In the end Maine received the most support via anonymous ballot. I understand your frustration but the process had no bias. Have a good Thanksgiving.

I was checking out W&M message board, someone over there e-mailed him (McCutcheon) and they got pretty much the same answer from the guy. This mess makes the BCS look good. I hope Maine gets destroyed.

Anytime someone says they have no bias, you know for sure, they have bias. If W&J or LU get in, this story is over in 24 hours but the Maine decision reeks to no end. Again, they beat just two teams with winning records and neither could be described as a "quality win" and anonymous voters made the decision.

It's actually Washington and Jefferson. They are 10-1 as we speak, but one would think their strength of schedule would work against them, along with the fact they are rather occupied, since they advanced to the second round of the D3 playoffs with a win last Saturday.

Was Maine the right pick? One thing that John was right about was you could make a case for each of those five teams that were on the bubble for the last spot. Actually if you were going to allow a fifth CAA team in, I think a better case could be made for William & Mary, except for that stupid 11 game schedule thing. This last decision comes down to opinion and for example, I got just as many emails saying Liberty should have gotten in as William and Mary and as Elon. So the choice was definitely a tough one. Now, this is going to surprise you, especially coming from the “All-time CAA-Homer” and at the risk of alienating many of my CAA readers, my pick would have been Liberty.
