I can't tell you how happy I am to not be the one getting blasted for being critical. One game does not a season make. Anyone, and I think McKay may even agree, can see we need inside help. And so do a lot of other teams in the country. I have no idea what recruits they went after and what ones they lost. As Gene Hackman said "THIS is your team." Now unless the 6'10 260 lb version of Jimmy CHitwood comes in, these are the guys that have to play. I didn't hear too many excuses from McKay in the post games. Sure the YOUNG part, BUT at least he is using it in his second year. IF he is using it in his fourth we may have some problems
My ONLY complaint are those gawd awful uni's. I think they would look big even on someone as big as SCAR. Perhaps their play would improve if they didn't have to worry about their jersey's sliding off. I'm just saying/

They simply don't fit. It looks like crap. You've got guys having their shorts come down to their socks.

Now we are discussing fashion.

Hopefully most everyone has gotten things off their chest and is ready to move forward (did anyone remember we have football game Saturday?). I am not at all happy about seeing the return of some personal attacks on both sides of this discussion. That is out of line and contrary to the board rules stated at the top of the forum.

I am not locking this thread but it will happen if we can't stick to what happened in this game.

it amazes me how 1+ years ago, 98% of us wanted Randy out of here. People thought RMK was going to bring 20 win seasons to the mountain instantly. Now I cautioned people on what we were getting with RMK. Also, I cautioned people that this class was not all that they have been hyped up to be.

I just thought it would have been nice to give a young up and coming assistant coach a chance, not a guy who was in free fall from 3 programs...

JB could not wait to get RD out the door (literally), I wonder what he is thinking after seeing that crap on TV yesterday. JB had a couple of very good assistants in his final 4 candidates.. by bringing RMK in just raised the expectations a little too high, too quick. With a young coach, patience would have been tolerated.

Whatever the situation, it is what it is, so let's support the program, regardless how bad it could get.

No one expected 20 win seasons this early. Most people expect us to be around .500 overall and middle of the pack in the conference.

Should I award you your cookie now or should we wait for the next 4 years to hash out to see how RMK and this "hyped" class are doing?

I predict that in four years the graduation rate will be better. I was neither opposed nor supportive of the hire, so I my expectations are not dashed or raised. I will say that these guys look promising and we will see where they go from here. What RMK has going for him that haunted previous regime's is a total lack of history with LU Athletics and IMHO that is a good thing. The folks here will be patient. NO one is seriously calling for his head or any other appendage. He will have time, just like Karcher did, to show what he can or can't do.

Please let it be that the previous post be the ONLY TIME that McKay and Karcher are in the same sentence EVER AGAIN.

but i am clueless and know nothing about basketball...right?? :D
Yes, the second game was ugly, but you're absolutely right, he needs more time. Kentucky has a great coach, and look at how they have started the season.
Waiting for Sly's response in 3...................2......................1
Enlighten me. I was under the impression that Gillespie was a good coach. He did resurrect three programs and turned Texas AM into something respectable---or so I thought.

I have no opinion one way or another on Gillespie, but Sly has made his abundantly clear......................... overrated at best.

Take a deep breath people. Yes, Liberty looked bad Tuesday. Awful. But it’s one game. College basketball is a grind, and one game is virtually meaningless. Even in conference play. With four additional league games this year, one game out of 18 will not kill a team.
Take a deep breath. It’s the second game of the season. Now if LU strings together four or five games like that … then it’s time to worry.
I think he's talking to some people on here. :D
