JMU
app State
Montana
Weber
Cal Poly
Villanova
No Iowa
So Illinois
Southland champ
SC state
Wofford

And there are 5 huge games next week, many of which the winner is in and the loser out:

1) Colgate-Holy Cross - Patriot league championship game. Play in game
2) UT Martin-E kentucky: OVC championship game. Play in game
3) Richmond-W Mary: loser has 4 losses and out. Winner in. Play in game
4) UNH-Maine: winner is a lock, UNH with a chance if they lose. Maine out if they lose.
5) Elon-Liberty: Elon in if they win, out if they lose. Liberty out if they lose.

The winners of the first four of those games will take spots 12-15...

the last spot will be determined by the last two games on the list.

If Elon wins, they are in and UNH takes the last spot even if they lose.

If Maine and Liberty both win, then it gets dicey. Maine would be #14 and Elon is likely out with 4 losses...but who do you take between UNH and Liberty for the last spot? I would think UNH but that would be 5 from the CAA for 2 straight years and I can see the committee taking Liberty instead (despite what is really an 8-2 record).

I don't see any other teams out there that could get in the mix (maybe Jax State) unless they surprise and take a 4 loss team.

This was the first post on there. If we beat Elon then do have a chance. Otherwise they have to let a 4 loss team in. I think the chances are good. But we HAVE to beat Elon first!

If we win, we make it a very hard decision...I can understand if they don't let us in with the terrible Presby loss...but I think if we beat Elon you can't truly argue we don't belong...we shall see

I'm rooting for you boys, cause I already know my Dukes are in and #1, but it's not looking good. Presbyterian will be your undoing.

I think they can truly argue we dont belong. I agree we dont have a real solid opponent this year other than Elon and we did have a rather cupcake schedule, unfortunately. But if what they say about the committe is true, I would see us getting in with a win over Elon, but I doubt we do anything in the playoffs, most likely a huge loss, and then we wouldnt get much if any consideration next year unless we went undefeated.

Thats the good news, our schedule next year will be alot tougher, but thats also the bad news.

if you're afraid of that, you might wanna steer clearrr of Harrisonburg, Virginia... ;)

Exactly, which is where we would go. Had we played better paced games and tougher competition this year we could easily hang in with ASU or JMU, but the cupcake squads we did face lowered our game and I dont see us doing much against those schools which one of which would be our first round game. Having said that, I dont see why ASU and JMU arent pushing for Liberty to get in more.

Oh believe me, on caazone.com, the home of JMU and the others of our conference, there is a lot of people hoping that JMU draws Liberty in the first round. I honestly just want to see JMU take care of business, regardless. as for Liberty playing ASU...i can't claim to have seen Liberty play at all this year, but I have had an entire game with App State...they can be beat, you just have to remain mentally tough and keep the ball away from Edwards.

I have to defer to something ive read SJ say on here and AGS numerous times. To paraphrase, LU has the talent, coaches, football program to be better then the JMU's or App States, etc. You guys just play a much tougher game week in and week out than we are used to because of the crap teams we play. Next year we should be alot better because we do have a much tougher schedule, and next years game against you guys should be a good one.

according to that, we fill our stadium up a bit more than you. Our fans are just as loud as yours, unless Loud means swearing to you, then yes, we dont know what loud means.
yes, unfortunately, it does mean swearing as well, it also means the force of the student body right behind the opposing team.

Man, that sounds awesome. The student body right behind the opposing teams bench? If only we had thought of that years ago.

The entire side of the stadium behind the visiting bench is the student section. The endzone by the visiting locker room is packed entirely with students. Were not pushed back in some corner far away from the visiting team bench. The LUnatics are a few feet from the visiting team, and I dont think they know how to shut up.

And sorry, you wont be behind our bench next year either, you guys get tucked away in the far upper corner, but have fun with that.

JMU "hoping" to draw Liberty? The Dukes had better be careful what they wish for. The over/under on that game might be darn near 80 or more...but we can and would compete.

I have to chuckle when I read that we are really as good or better than App/JMU, and our only problem is that our schedule is too weak. WE LOST TO PRESBY!!!!!!!! (And Lafayette at home) We are moving in the right direction, but we are just not at that level yet. If we had scheduled a BCS and a powerhouse FCS in place of those 2 D2 opponents, we would probably be sitting with 4 losses now. Does that get us in? I don't think so!

I don't think ANYONE on here believes that...but on any given Saturday...we may just be able to give them a run for their money...at least offensively.

have to agree w/ OF here.

It's a real shame that we didn't get selected last season- that team, toward the end of the year- had something going. They may well have won in the first round. This year... I just don't see it. And I feel bad for the seniors, but Redd and SRL brought something to that defense that we are sorely missing this time around.

Not to mention Wynton Jackson and special teams.

Agreed but you're forgetting our MVPs of last year- the big uglies of Sene, Pinigis, and Ausberry.

Ugh. This argument would have been much different if the Presby disaster wouldn't have happened.

Don't forget about some of the huge offensive linemen we had last year like Pinigus, Sene, and Ausberry. 320 lb linemen who moved piles forward. If we had those guys this year I believe the Lafayette game would have been a Win for us no matter what happened at Presby. What really set us back last year was the William and Mary loss. After that heartbreaker is was a serious uphill climb to compete for a playoff birth with our schedule being the way it was.

The Presby loss doesn't make sense just due to what they have done to some of the teams that we have beaten up like G/W, Chuck South, and VMI. I still can't get over that loss because it defies logic. So does G/W's game vs Georgia Tech. After what I saw yesterday I can only wonder how they competed with Georgia Tech.

If we beat Elon next week I like our chances of getting in but not getting past the first round. But stranger things have happened in the playoff pasts as I have seen some real shockers. We would probably give up 40 or 50 points against either an APU or JMU but the question is how many would we score. And yes we do need some outside help for us to get in.

Well, if you guys really think last year was better than this year, consider...

Last year, we did not win an OOC game on the road. We did not beat a decent team all year, unless you count Coastal or G-W. We lost to William and Mary, we had 2 D-II wins and a win over a terrible, horrible St. Francis team. We did very little to deserve a berth in the playoffs. This year, we won on the road at Stambaugh and Western, two top tier conference teams (albeit having bad years), and swept the conference again. A win over top 10 Elon, combined with the rest of our 8-2 record against teams that matter, is a MUCH better resume then the letdown last year, I mean, Pat Dickerson picks off the pass at William and Mary and seals a win, and we don't collapse against Toledo, and we were a LOCK to get into the playoffs last year, but that's the main difference. This year we won the close ones, last year, we didnt...

In any other year, I think the win at Youngstown would have been enough to get us some serious attention even after a loss to Presby. We just happened to pick a really bad year to schedule the Penguins. A win against Lafayette would have helped our cause tremendously, but we'd still have to beat Elon to really get some respect. As it is, we're getting people to pay attention to us; I don't think Richmond will be dodging us much longer, and I think JMU will be playing us more often.

Is a first round loss better than no first round at all? I think so.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
