Not a chance. I think this was the perfect storm in terms of the election. McCain could not effectively rally the conservative base that got behind Bush2, and the time was right for some sort of change. The country decided a whole new path was in order.
Agreed. This election has much more to do with voter fatigue than any candidate's position. Every 8 - 12 years American's get the "vote the bums out of office" mentality which is difficult to overcome. We had Clinton fatigue 8 years ago, HW fatigue after 12 years of Republican rule and so on. In a campaign that was everything about change, we went to bat with a 72 year old career politician that was easily tied to the past.
Obama is a power that you cannot stop. It was the first time a black man was backed by a major party and he is young and exciting. There's nothing that can be done to stop him...heck I'm expecting him in there for 8 years. There's no doubt that Doc would have done everything he could have and would have prob been in a different state every night but GWB's popularity poll is the biggest reason we dont stand a chance.
